A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 8th/ MARCH 2020.     “ INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY “

We had a little lie in this morning as we are ‘ Roasting ‘ later, after freshening up Brenda took ‘Lolo’ out for his first walk of the day around the bottom of the village, when she returned we had a quick toast & tea before getting things on the go.

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ next week we have ‘Lolo’ with us until a week on Monday, little ‘ Miss Bella’ is with us on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, then ‘ Scruffy’ is joining us for a sleep-over on Thursday evening and all day on Friday.

We have another glorious morning here in sunny Manilva, the sun was out early and the sky is cloudless and bright blue, there is just a very slight breeze,  its’ warm & sunny, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 19/20 degs+ - overnight down to 11/12 degs+ - next week, starting on Monday when it’s going warmer, up to 23 degs+ - the rest of the week and over next weekend is staying dry, warm & sunny, with a few patchy clouds at times, hovering in the high ‘ teens’- up to 21 degs+ by next Saturday, as the breeze picks up a little, the following week is at the moment looking a little unsettled, as the next wet & windy ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in, watch this space.

I first got the ‘ Roast’ on the go; the boned & rolled ‘Topside of Beef’ is seasoned and placed on top of a bed of mixed ‘ Trivets’ including the ends of Onions, Shallots, Garlic, Carrots, Leeks, Celery, Broccoli & Cauliflower, Bay Leafs, etc, with Vegetable Oil, as well as a dash of ‘Lea & Perrins & Tabasco’ with a spoon of Tomato Frito, into a very hot oven, covered in Tin-Foil and basted regularly.

The ‘ Second Chef’ meanwhile was preparing Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a three ‘Cheese’ sauce, Glazed Whole Baby Carrots en branch & Whole Baby ‘French’ Green Beans, Braised Onion & Garden Peas, not forgetting the par-boiled Potatoes, after shaking, that are tossed in the ‘Goose Fat’ – ready to go into the very hot oven this evening.

Finally I made my famous ‘Finger-Licking’ Pan Gravy, from the juices in the roasting tray, making a light ‘ Roux’ before adding a rich ‘Beef & Vegetable’ stock, made with the vegetable waters, adjusting the seasoning to taste, before adding a dash of ‘Crosse & Blackwell Gravy Browning’ to colour!

Just a very quick update on the sports results; Liverpool won 2-1 & Barcelona won 1-0. At the ‘ Guinness Six Nations Rugby Union’ at Twickenham, England beat Wales 33-30 after a late Welsh come back after two England players were sent off!

Yesterday lunchtime we ended up sat outside ‘ Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ in the very hot sunshine, under the umbrellas, for a nice cool drinks, a large glass of Italian ‘White Wine’ and of course a very large  ‘Bacardi & Coke’ - the two ‘ Fabio’s’ always look after us, with nuts and small ‘ Tomato Bruschettas’- served along with the drinks, our friends Brian & Andy came along and joined us for a good news catch-up, and stayed for more drinks, as well as slices of ‘Pizza topped with Salami’ ( complementary)  I had to be brought home by Brenda!

We will be out again at lunchtime, today, for our walk with ‘Lolo’ and will no doubt end up sat outside in the warm sunshine again for more cool drinks, watch this space.

This evening after supper we will settle down to watch the pen-ultimate episode ( 4 only!) of the excellent and award winning “ Last Tango in Halifax “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
