A BEAUTIFUL FRESH & WARM SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 26th/ MARCH 2020.    “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 12 “

After a good night sleep we freshened up and as I was the breakfast rota I raided the fridge and I had a large ( local bread ) ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon, Sausage & Mushroom Butty’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on the local bread, also, for Brenda, with mugs of hot/strong tea, to set us up for the day ahead (12) of being in ‘ Lockdown’!

We have for the first time in a while a beautiful sunny day, with a clear blue sky and just a light breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 20 degs+ - overnight down to 11 degs+ - sadly tomorrow and on Saturday the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ is due to return, as the breeze stiffens, going a little cooler also, on Sunday the Sun is forecast to back all the time still  hovering in the mid/high ‘ teens’ – next week is now looking unsettled, as the next wet, windy & cold ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in, bringing with it more Rain showers, later in the week sunshine! Watch this space.

  CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 “

As it’s such a nice day we are taking advantage of the fine weather, Brenda down to our local shop ( Salvador & Belli ) after masking/gloving up, for some fresh essentials, I then masked/gloved up and went along Calle Mar’ to the local Bank, for some cash from the machine, on the way  ‘Padre Jose’ came out of the ‘ Church House’ at the top of our street and ‘ Blessed’ me!

I was then stopped by two very large ‘ Guardia Civil’ officers in the street, that were checking all the traffic and people out! Finally Brenda, still masked/gloved up, popped along to the ‘Chemists’ for our prescription tablets etc.

The ‘Policia Local ‘ – who mostly live in the village, are now out in force all the time checking the dog walkers ( 50 meters) – people out at any time, making sure that they keep their distance ( 2 meters) and where they are going, all the traffic is being stooped ( 1 person only) – especially checking and only allowing them to go to the nearest  ‘ Supermarket’ – with heavy fines- on the spot- ( 400/600 Euros)  for those who are not obeying the ‘ LOCKDOWN’ rules!!

See below Sabinillas this morning.

All the time the ‘ Council’ workers are out & about in all the streets here in the village and down in Sabinillas, as well as the local urbanizations in the area, washing down, sanitizing/ humidifing!

This evening we are having ‘ Omelettes of Choice ‘ –  using 3 ‘ Campo Eggs’  - two cheese ( Cheddar/Parmesan)  for Brenda and ‘Paysanne’ for me! ( small diced/fried Shallot, Bacon, Mushrooms & Potato)  Served with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and a Baked Potato.

I have a dedicated Omelette/Pancake’ pan that I heat and de-glaze with a little Vegetables Oil, the Campo Eggs (3) are seasoned with salt and white pepper, then beaten with a large fork, a knob of butter is tossed into the hot pan and the beaten mixture added, left to settle for a few seconds, then stirred vigorously, turned into the corner of the pan, the fillings are then added and the ‘Omelette’ shape formed – before turning out ( up-side down) onto a warm plate, so the top of the Omelette is perfect!  ( adjust with a paper towel )

I was shown how to make the perfect ‘Omelette’ back in Liverpool in 1962 by the “ Head Chef “ of a city-centre restaurant ‘Paul Bruchet’ - who had trained in a ‘Lyons Corner House’ kitchens back pre-war! He cooked on a coal-fired solid top stove, making up to 12 Omelettes at a time!! ( Honest)

See below the Pier Head over in Liverpool last night!

Meanwhile over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, Sandra & Bill had for their supper last night, as you can see below, the classic ‘ Butter Chicken – Murgh Makhani ‘
