A STILL DRY & OVERCAST ' FRESH' SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 19th/ MARCH 2020.    “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 5 “

“ DIA DEL PADRE- FATHERS DAY IN SPAIN “

We freshened up this morning after another late rise! I then treated us to our favourite ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty ‘ ( only on per week!) – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda , with her favourite sliced Baby Mushrooms seared in the bacon juices with a knob of butter, some of which made into my butty, with mugs of hot/strong ‘PG’ Tips Tea, to set us up for the day and the coming weekend.

Still no sign of the very windy & wet weather as forecast, so far, overnight it stayed dry with just a slight breeze, the same this morning, a little grey and overcast but still dry with the sun attempting to break through, it’s reaching 16/17 degs+ by lunchtime – overnight down to 12/13 degs+ - tomorrow and on Saturday staying the same, then on Sunday and into the start of next week we could have some sunshine back in sunny Manilva, as the breeze drops, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – changing towards the end of next week to more of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ again, going a little cooler also, watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 “

After breakfast I ventured out, after masking/gloving up, and went around the back of the village to see if our local ‘Butchers’ was open, he was, so I stocked up with a fresh ‘ Chicken’ for our ‘ Sunday Roast’ and ‘Chicken Wings, Pork Chops & Braising Steak’ to go in the deep freeze, on the way back I stopped at the local Bank in ‘Calle Mar’ for some cash from the machine.

I also asked at the ‘ Chemists’ if the ‘ Hand Sanitizer’ had arrived yet, it handn’t ! We have now been advised by our personal ‘ HMA’ ( Head Medical Advisor!) direct from Everett, Ontario, Canada, that washing your hands with soap and water for 30 seconds is still more effective, especially as the price of the Sanitizer will be expensive (Rip-Off!)

PS; We have just arranged a ' Skype' video link up with Sandra & Bill this coming Saturday.

When I returned Brenda popped down (masked/gloved up) to our local shop to pick up some fresh Vegetables etc so we are now stocked up for this week and next week, no need to ask our friends for help (Leah or Brian) this weekend, to go down to ‘ Mercadona’ – who are now also  giving precedence to the over ‘70s’  shoppers!

The only casualties so far are our wall plants (9) - we have brought them in during the wind/wet weather (?!) but as the local ‘Market’ is now closed, we are not going to be able to replace them as they finish, as well as out fresh flowers in the lounge!

This evening we are having for our supper our favourite ‘ Grilled Chicken Wings’ with finely sliced ‘ French’ green Beans and a Baked Potato. Tomorrow night it’s going to be a ‘ Fish N’ Chip’ supper, with Mushy Peas, on Saturday I’m cooking ‘ A La Carte’ style my version of the old classic ‘ Steak Diane’ – which I first learned to cook, back in the late 60s, at the famous ‘ Stork Hotel’ in Queens Square in Liverpool!

On Sunday we are now having a fresh/local ‘ Roast Chicken’ with all the trimmings.

This afternoon/evening we are staying calm & relaxed, having a warm drink in the afternoon and our usual ‘ Happy Hours’ drinks later, after supper, as usual, channel hopping to find something to watch on the TV, at all times keeping ‘ POSITIVE & CALM’ !

                                                                                                 “ STAY INSIDE “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
