A STILL VERY ' FRESH' & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 16th/ MARCH 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 2 “

We had another nice lie in this morning as the village is very quieter & tranquil, to say the least, than normal, we freshened up and I then treated us to ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty ‘ – open on brown for Brenda, with her favourite sliced Baby Mushrooms seared in the bacon juices with a knob of butter, for the last time this week, as we are now going onto ‘ half-rations’ – with mugs of hot/strong tea, to set us up for the week ahead!

Before breakfast we made contact with Lyn, over in Melbourne, Australia, we tried last night before going to bed, with no luck, but she saw the messages and called us this morning on the ‘ Facebook Messenger ’ video link!  We had a good catch up with all her news, she’s fine and safe in  ‘Lock Down’ in her village complex, Deb & Annette are looking after her! We have just had a nice message from ‘Aunty’ Deb! Love to all the family over in Australia “ STAY SAFE “

At the moment we have a dry & settled start to the day, the sky is cloudless & blue, with a stiff breeze, so it’s gone colder, down to 15/16 degs+ overnight down to 8/9 degs, but still sunny for now,  as we wait for the new wet & windy ‘ Atlantic’ front to take effect, later this afternoon and by tomorrow it’s going a lot windier when the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ will hit us as well as the ‘ Gale-Force’ winds and more heavy rain, on Wednesday/Thursday, and for the rest of the week and over the coming weekend, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – next week is not looking much better at the moment,  at least we are inside & dry ! Watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE”

Yesterday afternoon we spoke to Jenny & Norah on the ‘ Skype’ voice- link up. they are both fine and settling down to the their own self-imposed ‘ Lock Downs’ before it becomes law over in the UK.

This morning after breakfast our local shop, at the bottom of the street, was open, as allowed, so Brenda popped down and picked up some essentials, our dear friend Leah is bringing us some more essentials this evening, from ‘Morrisons’ in Gibraltar, after she leaves work, including  ‘Granulated Sugar, Tea Bags & White/Brown sliced Bread ‘ – which she is going leave outside our front door this evening! “ Thanks “

Brian has also been in touch to check on us, he’s at home this week, as it happens, on holiday, so is on his own going bored and out of his skull, he might even do some cleaning! He has offered to go to the supermarket when we need something, we are waiting to hear if they ( Mercadona)  are going to open at special times just for us old age pensioners, like ‘ Carrefour’ just have ?!  Watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having the rest of the ‘ Marinated Lamb Cutlets’ with all the leftover Vegetables and ‘Boulangere’ Potatoes, tomorrow evening it’s going to ‘Pan-Seared Liver’ with all the trimmings, on Wednesday I’m cooking, in the Wok,  a ‘ Stir-Fried Beef with Mixed Peppers’ – Thursday will be ‘Grilled Chicken Wings’ with a Baked Potato’ – Friday will be our usual ‘ Fish N Chip’ supper, with Mushy Peas and on Saturday we are having the classic ‘ Steak Diane’ – Sunday it will be ‘Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet ‘- with a selection of fresh local Vegetables and ‘ Breton’ style Potatoes!

We settling into the routine and staying safe & sound inside, keeping relaxed and thinking ‘Positive Thoughts ‘ at all times! Watch this space.
