A STILL WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 5th/ MARCH 2019      “ SHROVE TUESDAY “

I was up early this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot off across to the ‘ Estepona Hospital’ for my appointment at the ‘ Physiotherapy Department’ for more treatment on my left-hand, I found a place to park straight away, so I had a quick tea & tostado before going in, it was very busy this morning, 12/15 people with various problems, hands, ankles, shoulders, etc, all handled very sensitively by the three staff, led by Encarni.

When I returned I called into our local Butchers in ‘Calle Iglasie’ for a boned Chicken Leg/Thigh to go with the Breast of Chicken in tomorrow’s “ Chicken, Mushroom & Tarragon Pie “ – I then back at the house made the ‘ Crepe’ Batter, for this evenings dessert, a traditional  recipe of ‘ Soft Flour, a pinch of Salt and a small spoon of Sugar, a dash of Vegetable Oil, Milk & 1 Egg/2 Egg Yolks, all beaten and left out, I have a small ladle that is just the right amount for my ‘ Crepe Pan’ ( Omelette Pan ) – the hot pan is cleaned with a dash of Oil, then the mix is added and turned with a spatula, not ‘ tossed’ - then folded into a triangle and turned out onto a bed of sugar, with a squeeze of Lemon Juice!  Served with Vanilla Ice Cream & Local Strawberries, with the option of some excellent ‘Canadian’ Maple Syrup!

As I set off the morning it was a little grey & overcast with a light damp spray of the ‘ wet-stuff’ in the air, as there was a light breeze also. It slowly picked up and is now clear & sunny as the sun broke through later, there are still some black clouds on the horizon, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 21 degs, tomorrow is going to be cold & wet, down to 15 degs, as a still breeze brings in the new ‘Atlantic’ front, the rest of the week and over the weekend it’s staying dry & sunny, with patchy clouds, getting warmer, hovering in the high ‘ teens’ and reaching  23 degs+ by next Monday, then it’s staying warm & sunny, around the 20 degs mark, just in time for the ‘ Carnival Weekend’ here in sunny Manilva and also the celebrations for ‘ St Patrick’s Day ‘!!

This evening we are having ‘ Pan-Seared Lambs Liver’ – dusted in seasoned flour, then cooked on a very hot griddle-plate, with Grilled English Pork Sausages & Crispy Spanish Smoked Bacon, served with a rich ‘ Red Wine, Onion, Shallot & Mushroom Salsa’ – with Cabbage with Acelgas and a dish of ‘ Boulangere Potatoes’  To follow my now famous ‘ Crepe’s of Choice’ ( see above )

Over the next couple of days we are making contact with Tim & Thea up in Mojacar, as they due to return to North Wales next week, on Sunday we have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video call with Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, we are also going to call Jack & Lyn, over in Melbourne, for a good ‘ catch-up’ – today Lyn’s daughter Annette, called in to see them, with a nice ‘ Seafood’ treat!

Yesterday we caught up with all the ‘ Quiz Shows’ that we follow; ‘ Countdown, Tipping Point, The Chase, Pointless, Eggheads, Only Connect & University Challenge’ – then later we decided to watch two new ‘Comedy’ shows, when we should have watched the new series of “ Who Wants to Be a Millionaire “ with Jeremy Clarkson, as the first contestant reached the ‘ Million Pound Question ‘ – he walked away with the second –highest prize money of 500,000 pounds! He would have got the answer wrong!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
