We set the alarm clock this morning as we
had to be up & out to go across to Estepona, first thing, after freshening
up we had a quick fresh fruit, toast & tea, before shooting over, along the
coast road, past a sparkling Mediterranean.
As we were getting ready we were listening
to the ‘ Andrew Charles Breakfast Show’ on
“ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW “ – the ‘Music Quiz’ came on, it
was ten second backwards track, which was impossible to make out, the ‘ clues’
helped, as ‘Lady’ Brenda got the track and I got the Band, it was the “ Beatles’
– ‘ I Wanna Be Your Man ‘ – we were the first folks to get it right!
The sun was out first thing this morning
and the slight breeze had cleared the clouds away by the time we set off, the
sky was bright blue and the views across the mountains towards Estepona/Marbella
was spectacular, by lunchtime it reached 21 degs+ - but it’s still down to 7
degs overnight, when we spoke to Sandra & Bill yesterday evening it was
MINUS 21 degs in Everett, Ontario, Canada! The rest of the week has settled
down, it’s going to be dry and sunny
with patchy clouds, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – on Saturday we could have
some of the ‘wet-stuff’- then from Sunday and into the following week we are in
for a more settled period, keeping dry but cool, watch this space.
We parked the car in the underground car
park and as we reached the ‘ Hairdressers’ Manuel was just arriving, so I was
his first customer, I had the ‘ full-works’ – a dry cut & trim, then a
face, neck & scalp shave with a cut-throat razor, my hair shampooed, then
styled and groomed, before his excellent face, neck & scalp massage with a
soothing cream! A felt like a ‘ New Man’!
Meanwhile Brenda hit the shops with all the
sales on, first calling in to her favourite Cosmetics Shop, I then found her in
another favourite, the main ‘Shoe Shop’
where she bought a new pair of ankle boots!
As usual Estepona looked fabulous, on a
beautiful morning, all the flowers beds were in full bloom, the Town is always very
clean & tidy, since we were last there back in the end of October, with
Sandra & Bill, the new ‘ Boutique Hotel ‘ in the centre, next to the ‘
Orange Square’ has shot up and is starting to look very impressive.
We then came back along the coast road and
carried on past Sabinillas and doubled backed/dropped into the ‘ Manilva Beach’
complex to check our Sandra & Bills four bedroomed house, it’s at the end of the
urbanization, next to the ‘Camping La Bella Vista’ site, it has it’s own
private entrance and garden, with excess to the beach boardwalk, it’s a large
modern building on a corner plot, we can’t wait for the first week in October!
On the way back we called into ‘ Castillo
de la Duquesa’ to check out the new street improvements, then came along to the
‘ Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’ and had a coffee, sat on the quayside, in the
very hot sunshine ( 21 degs+) Somebody has to do it !!
For our supper this evening we are having ‘
Pork Schnitzels ‘ – “ Schweineschnitzel “ – flatted Pork Fillet Escalope’s -
using breadcrumbs from the local Bakery, shallow-fried until crisp &
golden, served with lots of Lemon Wedges, finished ‘ Holstein’ style – topped with
a ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg & Capers and Gherkins! Resting on a bed of ‘ Spaghetti
Milanese’- tossed with shredded Smoked Ham & Tomato salsa, with finely
sliced ‘French’ Green Beans on the side and a sauceboat of Tomato Salsa. The ‘
Menu’s’ for the rest of the week are still TBC, watch this space.
This evening after supper we have two
programmes to watch, on at the same times, as usual the ‘BBC & ITV’ have
them against one another; ‘Silent Witness’ or the return of ‘ Cold Feet ‘!! ‘ Decisions, Decisions ‘ !!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
