We had our first proper lie in this
morning, after nearly four weeks, as we have been very busy in ‘ Doggy World
Heaven ‘ over the Xmas & New Year’s period, the village is even quieter
than normal, as the ‘ cold-snap’ settles in, ‘Charlie’ was collected yesterday
lunchtime, a day earlier than we thought, by Brian, he went wild when he saw
him ( Charlie not Brian!) – the folks have had a ‘ Helluva’ honeymoon over in
Barbados, we are already missing him, the house is very quiet, he’s such a lovely
character and great company.
After freshening up, Brenda was on the
breakfast rota so we had her famous ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast ‘ – Boiled
with Brown Toast Fingers for her, with mugs of strong Tea, to set us up for the
day ahead. I then put the gas bottle out to be exchanged later by the gas
bottle delivery man. Brenda is washing/shampooing her hair and I have retired upstairs
to the office/studio to go on the ‘ WWW’ and then type/post today’s Blog.
The sun is just breaking through and the
clouds are clearing, as there is slight breeze blowing up from the
Mediterranean, by lunchtime it will be only 14 degs+ - down to overnight 6/7
degs! Tomorrow and on Monday it’s going a little warmer, then the rest of the
week and over the following weekend it will drop back down again, hovering in
the mid/low ‘teens’ – with the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ in the air, all the
time, it looks like the ‘ cold-snap is going to be with us for a while, watch
this space.
On the sports front this weekend; over
in the ‘Premier League’ Liverpool have the long journey down to Brighton, Everton
welcome Bournemouth, who have the long journey up to play them, Manchester City
are at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, meanwhile here in ‘ La Liga’ Barcelona
are at home to Eibar & Real Madrid travel to Seville to play Real Betis. The
‘ National Hunt Racing this afternoon is from Warwick.
For our supper this evening we are
having a large ‘ Grilled Rib of Beef – on the Bone’ – cooked on a very hot
griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, before slicing it into fingers ‘
French ‘ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, with
whole ‘ French’ Green Beans and for a change, requested by Brenda, my famous ‘
Pont-Neuf ‘ ( Parisian Fried Potatoes) – thick-cut ‘ doorstep’ Chips, served at
the now closed ‘ Chez Clovis’ – next to the ‘ Pont Neuf Bridge ‘ ( New Bridge )
in Paris – in fact the city’s oldest one! Not forgetting another classic - ‘
Bearnaise ‘ sauce on the side with ‘ Dijon’ Grain Mustard.
Tomorrow evening we have arranged a ‘
Skype’ video link-up with Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada. It
will then be time, after supper, to settle down to channel hop and find
something to watch from our multi-channel ‘ IPTV’ system.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
