A VERY ' CRISP' AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 6th/JANUARY 2018.     “ DIA DE LOS REYES “

We managed a little lie in this morning before ‘ Charlie’ got us up to take him out for his first walk of the day, he slept downstairs, all night, and then this morning came and jumped on the bed! After freshening up Brenda took him out as I’m a little under the weather, I’ve got a bad cold & sniffles and a bad throat, caught from the ‘ Moffatt’s of Mojacar’ - when they were here over the New Year! When Brenda returned we had our regular fresh fruit, toast and tea.

We then made contact with Jack & Lyn, over in Melbourne, first by calling them on the ‘ Skype’ landline and then on the ‘ Skype’ video, which this time was a very good connection, they are both very well and have had a nice family time over Christmas and the New Year, sadly they also have not yet received the Xmas Cards, just the same as Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, who have just sent us a long ‘ Facebook’ message, the weather over in Australia, at the moment, is very hot, the other day reaching 45 degs+ - meanwhile back in Canada is cold, damp and snowy, as usual! We have arranged to call Sandra & Bill next Sunday for a catch-up.

Tomorrow it will be the time to take down the ‘Xmas’ decorations after the main Bank Holiday weekend here in Spain for the ‘ Three Kings’ celebrations( 12 night!) - we are also going down, on Monday, to Sabinillas to the main ‘ Medical Centre’ to make an appointment for my monthly ‘ B12 ‘ injection and then onto the local ‘Vets’ for some tablets for Charlie’ – he’s due to be collected next Saturday. On Friday morning I will back out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the first weekly shopping of 2019, the following week we will be going across the Estepona for my haircut etc, then it will be time to make an appointment with the family ‘ Solicitors ‘ to re-arrange the contract on the house, watch this space.

This morning it’s starting to clear as the sun brakes through, there is a slight breeze keeping it still very ‘ Crisp’ for the time of the year, by lunchtime it will be nearly 19 degs+ - but overnight it going to down to 6/7 degs, the coldest it’s been since we arrived down here back in 2006! Next week is staying dry and very cold, with patchy clouds and sunshine, hovering in the mid ‘teens’ – still cold at night, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having my recipe of  the classic “ Lancashire Hotpot “ – using ‘ Spanish Lamb Chops’ – seasoned and ‘ Browned-Off’ – then layered with sliced Potatoes – thinner with each layer- with sliced Onions, Carrots, Leeks, Celery & Mushrooms – then a rich Meat & Vegetable Stock is added, ready to go in the oven this evening, after an hour I take the lid off and put knobs of butter on the top layer of potatoes to crisp off!  Served with Cabbage with Acelgas & Pickled Beetroot.

We are taking things very easy today, relaxing and doing nothing, because we can, then from tomorrow we will be back in our routine, watching TV as more serials re-appear, ie; ‘Silent Witness’ etc! – and of course all the ‘ Quiz Shows’ that we follow.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
