A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 11th/ OCTOBER 2017.

We had a little lie in this morning as we had to catch the gas bottle delivery man, we leave the empty one outside the front door, ready to be exchanged, the price is controlled by the Government, the gas is for the hot water and cooking. After our usual light breakfast we sorted ourselves out for the day ahead, Brenda is catching up with all the washing, drying & ironing, she also shot down to the local sub-post office to post a birthday card, watch out it could be you!

Sadly no ‘Reina’ this morning as Daniela is working from home, she is with us tomorrow morning for the day, hopefully she will be back with us in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ next week for a few days, there is still no sign of ‘ Chispa’ coming back off her holidays down at the families ‘ Campo’ Watch this space.

I got this evenings supper on the go ‘ Casserole of Braised Beef in a Rich Red Wine, Mushroom, Onion & Shallot Salsa ‘ – using sliced Beef Entrecote, the sliced Onions& Shallots are sweated off with the diced Mushrooms & Garlic, a good glass of Brenda’s ‘Red Wine’ is used to deglaze the pan, then a large spoon of Tomato Frito is added along with seasoning, finally I add a rich ‘Beef & Vegetable’ stock and leave the salsa to cook out before adjusting the consistency, seasoning and colour, ( Crosse & Blackwell Gravy Browning!) -  the sliced Beef is lightly dusted in flour and quickly browned off, it will go in the oven this evening to finish cooking along with Brenda’s famous ‘ Mashed Potato ‘ – we are having Glazed Carrot Batons & Whole Green Baby Beans.

The sun was out first thing this morning and the sky has cleared, there is a very light breeze making it very pleasant, our favourite time of the year, by this afternoon it’s due to reach 24/25 degs, the rest of the week is the same, getting a little hotter over the weekend, next week we are in for more sunshine and fine weather, as you can see in the forecast for the Malaga weather below.

We are now getting back into our normal routine in the early evening watching various Quiz Shows ‘ Pointless, Egg Heads, Mastermind & University Challenge’ before catching up with all the serials, over the weekend we watched ‘ The Last Post’ – the story of a British army unit, the ‘Royal Military Police’- fighting a Yemeni insurgency in the Middle East, then last night we caught the first new episode of ‘Our Girl’ about a small military unit helping after the Nepalese earthquake, this is series three, we have not seen the other two, with Michelle Keegan in the title role as an Army Medic, the earthquake scenes were hugely unconvincing, the cameras just wobbled, and the main characters face looked ‘ plastic’ – she was wearing foundation, mascara & painted eyebrows, with flawless hair, despite being in the field and buried in the rubble of a collapsed building?!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
