We had a nice long lie in this morning, the
first in a little while, after a quick freshen up Brenda shot off to the local
sub-post office to post a condolence card to the family of our dear Swedish
friend Lillemor, who sadly died, suddenly, of a brain hemorrhage, in the ‘Costa
Del Sol’ Hospital, while her sister was here, our old friend Gillian, back in
England, her old friend, when she used to live in the same complex below the
village, let us know, she had only called in the week before all the folks
arrived, for a chat & catch up, at the same time I arranged, as usual, to
take her to the airport at the end of the month, for her flight back to Sweden.
After our regular breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’
toast & tea we sorted ourselves out for the day ahead, I called the ‘ H10
Estepona Palace ‘ Hotel to enquire about a lost camera, last night Norah called
to say that she has left her camera in their room at the hotel, a very helpful
phone- receptionist is checking with the Housekeeping department and we are
waiting for the call back, watch this space. At the moment the news is not good
but more checks are taking place as I’m typing the Blog.
We have yet another glorious day here in
sunny Manilva, the sun broke through earlier & the sky has cleared, there
is no breeze and so by lunchtime it will reach 24/25 degs, the rest of the week
is looking the same and over the weekend it’s going to get a little hotter, watch
this space.
See below ' Calle Iglesia ' leading down to the Church this morning.

Yesterday morning the Mayor, Mario, and the
Council finally opened the new ‘Indoor Pool & Spa’ down in the Sports
complex in Sabinillas, it’s nearly a year behind opening due to the flooding of
the cellars in last December’s storms, when all the pumping machinery etc was
damaged.
Last week the road between Sabinillas and
the village was re-laid with tarmac, from top to bottom, through all the twist
and turns, in two days, a long awaited improvement.
Sadly the news on the pedestrianization
scheme for ‘Call Mar’ is not so good, the Council last week closed the street,
to start the work, and then re-opened it, after the surveyors, reported that
there is a problem with the levels/flagging stones, to all the door/premises
along the street, I’m reliably informed, watch this space.
This evening for our supper the ‘Head Chef’
who is back, along with his staff, from his week off, taking in the sights,
sounds, food & wine, of various restaurants down here on the ‘ Costa Del
Sol ‘ – is preparing for our supper the classic ‘ Grilled Gammon Steaks’ topped
with ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs and seared Pineapple rings, Garden Peas and of course
his famous twice-cooked ‘Chips’
Tomorrow evening’s ‘ Gourmet’ supper is going
to be a rich ‘Red Wine, Mushroom & Onion/Shallot Casserole’ using the best
sliced Entrecote of Beef, the Second Chef is going to make her famous ‘Mashed
Potato’ along with her selection of local/fresh seasonal vegetables.
Meanwhile over in Everett, Ontario, last
night, the ‘Executive Head Chef ‘ who is also a specialist ‘ BBQ’ expert, was preparing and roasting a ‘ French’
cut ‘Pork Roast’ with Apples, Onions & Garlic!
Last night after supper we watched the pen-ultimate
episode of the excellent ‘ Liar’ starring Joanne Froggatt, a terrifying &
chilling episode, as a heart-stopping tense cat and mouse chase was played out around
a harbour side. She drugged her attacker with the same ‘ GBH’ that he use’s on
all his victims and her, including the pregnant lady detective, he has a secret
store, in his mother’s garage, of drugs, memory cards, a suitcase etc – the affair
between her sister and the ex-policeman boyfriend came out in the open, is
there a secret attacker, with Andrew, the surgeon, being his ‘ Facilitator’ –
all will be revealed next week, watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
