A VERY WARM/CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 20th/ OCTOBER 2017.

I was up early this morning and after ‘ Reina’ was dropped off for the day by Daniela I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, I had a quick toast & tea in ‘ Itzabar ‘ before doing the main shop in ‘ Mercadona ‘ – I then called into the ‘Chinese Bazaar’ for a new lead for ‘ Chispa’ before carrying on to the ‘English Bookshop’ for the local English newspapers, I then carried on to the ‘ Ferraterias’ for some new rechargeable batteries for the camera.

Next on my travels I shot along to the far end of the promenade to the local market for the fresh flowers before stopping at ‘Super Sol’ for the English essentials, it was then time to shot back up the hill through the vine fields to the house to unload, I then parked the car back in the underground car park.

This morning the sun was out early and the sky has cleared and is bright blue, there is just a very slight breeze making it a beautiful day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – by lunchtime reaching 25/26 degs, more tomorrow and then on Sunday it’s settling down to the mid 20s, next week is now looking warm & sunny, all week, watch this space.

This evenings supper is going to be ‘ Pan-Seared Fillets of Turbot – Rodaballo ‘- I bought the whole fish and the Fishmonger took the 4 fillets off, which I then ‘ French’ trimmed back at the house, I lightly dust the fillets in seasoned flour before cooking them in foaming Lemon Butter,  garnished with large, peeled ‘Gambas a la Plancha’ ( Sea-Salt) accompanied with Broccoli Florets, Garden Peas & Parsley New Baby Potatoes, which the ‘ Vegetable Chef’ skins!

Tomorrow evening we are having ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks’ with all the trimmings including deep-fried Onion Rings and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – then on Sunday we are ‘ Roasting’ – for the first time in a while, a local ‘Loin of Pork’ with a Mixed Herb Stuffing, glazed ‘Fuji’ Apple slices, a selection of seasonal vegetables and of course my special & famous finger-licking Pan Gravy!

Last night’s ‘ Gourmet Banquet’ with Lee & Daniela was very enjoyable, even if a do say so myself! We had a good catch up with all their news and they with ours! Before supper Lee updated our ‘ Amazon Fire TV Stick’ with some new programmes, which we will check out over the weekend, the ‘ highlight’ of the evening was the dessert, my ‘ Crepes’ with fresh Local Raspberries & Vanilla Ice Cream and Maple Syrup( the ‘ Real McCoy!) went down very well accompanied with the excellent “ Creekside Shiraz Icewine “ from the Niagara Peninsula, on the shores of Lake Ontario, unadulterated decadence, comes into mind!

‘Thanks’ to Sandra & Bill over in a now chilly Everett, Ontario, Canada. We will catch up with you over the weekend on the Skype video!! Watch this space.
