A STILL WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 22nd / OCTOBER 2016.

We all had a nice lie in this morning before taking ‘ Pax’ out for his first walk of the day, when we returned the ‘Gas Bottle Delivery Man’ came down our street, we all had a late night last night as when we were out for ‘Pax’s’ last walk, as we were passing ‘ Bar Castillo’ our dear friend, Brian with his mate, called us over for a drink, it was well past all our bedtimes when we got home! For breakfast we had Brenda’s famous ‘Poached Eggs’ on toast, sadly our ‘ Campo’ Egg supply has dried up?!

It’s a very pleasant morning, the sky is clear and the sun has broken through, there is no breeze making it calm & dry, for now, the forecast for the rest of the weekend is for more of the same but with the threat of rain a possibility as all around us it’s raining already, next week is looking changeable and a little cooler, watch this space. See below!

This evening for our supper we are back to a large ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’- then left to rest before slicing it ‘ French’ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Baby Mushrooms, with ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce on the side, whole Green Beans and our favourite, at the moment, twice-cooked ‘ Pont Neuf’ thick-cut Chips! Tomorrow night I’m making my own recipe/version of the classic ‘ Lancashire Hot Pot’ using ‘ New Zealand, South Island, Rack of Lamb’

This weekend over in the ‘ Premiere League’ Everton travel up the M6 to Burnley & Liverpool welcome West Brom, coming up the other way, on Sunday Manchester City are at home to Southampton; over here in ‘ La Liga’ Barcelona come down the coast to play Valencia and then on Sunday Real Madrid welcome Atl.Bilbao. Over in the USA it’s the ‘American Grand Prix’ in Austin, Texas, Lewis Hamilton needs to win and his ‘team’ mate Rosberg not to finish to give him a small chance to retain the World Championship!

See below a spectacular picture taken last night looking down Dale Street in Liverpool, past the Town Hall building, the tall plain concrete building on the right is a ventilation shaft for the old Mersey Tunnel, there are two on the Liverpool side and one over in Birkenhead,  it was designed by the father of a old primary school mate of mine!

Yesterday evening Lee picked up ‘Reina’ as he had been to the cinema in Gibraltar to see the new Tom Cruise film ‘ Never Go Back’ – he plays, again, ‘Jack Reacher’ – the author, Lee Childs character, we have read all his books and just can’t see Tom Cruise in the part, he’s too small and not tough enough!

After supper last night we settled down to watch the next episode of ‘The Level’ – more intrigue, family secrets, police corruption, drug trafficking, as the lady Detective goes undercover, it’s all happening down in Brighton, watch this space.

Thought for the Day; See above.
