A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 23rd / SEPTEMBER 2016.

I was up first this morning and after a quick freshen up shot out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, Brenda then saw ‘ Reina’ back with us for day, she’s being collected later this evening as Lee & Daniela are going out for dinner, still no sign of ‘ Chispa’ who is still away on her second holiday this year!

I was first into ‘ Mercadona’ for our main shop, I then collected the local newspapers from the ‘English Bookshop’ before going along to the ‘ Helicopteros Sanitarios’ office to pay our half-yearly fee, on the way back I stopped at the local market at the far end of the promenade for some fresh flowers, I then came back up the hills through the overgrown vine fields and the four hairpin bends up to the village!

Our handyman has just arrived and is fixing various out standing jobs around the house.

As I was going down this morning the sun was just above the horizon over the sparkling 'Green/Blue' Mediterranean, the sky was blue and there is just a little breeze, a perfect day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ at the start of ‘ Autumn –  The Fall ‘ – it’s the most pleasant time to be out & about, the weekend is also going to be warm & sunny and next week we are in for more of the same.

For our supper this evening we are going to have  “ Posh Fish & Chips “ as when I was in ‘ Mercadona’ at the excellent Fish Market the first of this year’s ‘ Rodaballo- Turbut’  has just arrived, the ‘ Queen ‘ of fish! They gutted/trimmed & skinned (black) the whole fish, it’s still very expensive so it’s a treat for my birthday! I’m going to bake it, whole on the bone, with Lemon & Lime Juice with fresh herbs, then take off the four fillets and brush with un-salted Butter, lots of Lemon wedges on the side, served with Garden Peas,Broccoli Florets & of course twice-cooked ‘ Chips’! See below.

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the new psychological thriller/murder 8 part mini-series on ITV ‘ Paranoid’ with an excellent cast of seasoned character actors, the three main detectives based in a fictional Yorkshire town all have personal problems, the setting is dark & mysterious and the story line is unfolding with lots of twists, one gruesome murder and one suspected suicide and a lead taking them to Germany, all in the first episode! Watch this space.

PS; A old postcard from back in 1937 showing the ' Eirias Park Boating Lake ' in Colwyn Bay!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
