A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON VENDIMIA SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 4th / SEPTEMBER 2016

We needed a lie in this morning as the music didn’t finish until 5-30am! ‘Charlie’ is a real gem, he’s no problem, he sleeps anywhere and moves around during the night, this morning he waited for us to get up, I then took him for a nice long walk through the village which is ‘ dead’ as the seven bars along ‘ Calle Mar’ prepare for the ‘masses’ arriving for the ‘Vendimia Sunday’ starting at 1-00pm, the new Council have changed the format slightly, the ‘Horse Parade’ is now at 2-00pm, confirmed by the Deputy Mayor this morning as I was out with Charlie!

After another very hot night we are in for a very hot & sunny day, there is no breeze and by this afternoon it will be in the high 30s, next week is going to be the same. See the picture below of this mornings sunrise.

“ LOST & FOUND “

We had a major incident/ fright yesterday evening; as we were going out to watch the ‘Religious Procession ‘ as it passed the top of our street, I had ‘ Charlie’ on his lead and Brenda had ‘ Reina’ on hers & was taking her just around the corner to her regular spots, Brenda screamed as ‘Reina’ broke free of her collar, the clip snapped open because of her pulling, she’s very nervous anyway, as we called her she shot off, at great speed, down the street and around the corner out of sight, Brenda took control of ‘ Charlie’ and set off a very slow pace to find her, meanwhile I shot down our street to cut her off, with no luck, we both met by the top of the ‘ Plaza De La Vendimia’ where two young Senoritas said that they had seen her going down the road past Adrian & Rose’s house towards the main roundabout!

I set off and Brenda went back slowly to be around our house, just in case, the two young Senoritas had spoken to a neighbour of Rose’s who said that he and his wife had seen her by the side of the main road and though that she had crossed over into the vine fields! He went down into the vine fields and his wife, very kindly, went off in the opposite direction, I decided to stay by the roundabout as Lee & Daniela, who were a bit late, were due to arrive at any moment to stop off and walk up to the house to collect her!
They arrived and I had to tell them that she was missing! Lee came and joined me and Daniela went off in her car, I had just asked the lady to go and check out our friend, Barbara’s house, as she also used to look after her, her house is above the roundabout on the road to the hotel, she returned with no luck as they were out! I had also told a local policeman about her missing and stopped a passing ‘ Guardia Civil ‘ car that was passing and asked them to look out for her! Daniela came back and with Lee set off again towards Barbara’s house, as they were passing they heard her very distinctive bark, she had broken into their back garden, they arrived back to the roundabout with her in Lee’s arms!

To say that I was relieved was something of an understatement, I thought that I was going to have a heart attack, the heat didn’t help also, I was totally drained, Lee & Daniela were very happy and also took it all very well, considering the circumstances, I set off back up the house and met Brenda coming down the main road on her way to the Police station to report ‘Reina’ missing and me also!! She had also told another local policeman to watch out for her, we slowly walked back up to our house were we treated ourselves to a stiff drink!!

 The ‘ Seafood Risotto’ was cancelled, again, in fact I’ve just made it this morning, see the picture below.

For breakfast I had ‘Campo’ Fried Eggs with Smoked Bacon, toast & tea, Brenda had her regular fruit etc, we have decided to take things very easy today after all the excitement, sadly I didn’t get to take any pictures of the procession, watch this space.( just found one from a friends pictures ) See below

.
Today is the Italian Grand Prix and stage 15 of the ‘Vuelta d’Espana’ in the Pyrenees, see the route map below. Rosberg won after another bad start by Hamilton, sadly Chris Froome is not having a good day at the moment also!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
