A STILL VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 10th / SEPTEMBER 2016.

We had a nice lie in this morning, the first this week, the village was quiet and there were no deliveries down our street or the ‘Church Bells’ ringing! After freshening up we had ‘ Smoked Bacon Butties’ with mugs of tea for our breakfast to set us up for the day ahead, Brenda then put some washing in, as it’s a good drying day, I’ve shot upstairs to the office/ studio to catch up on the ‘ WWW’ and type & post the Blog, as you can see! ‘ Reina’ is due back with us at lunchtime for the rest of the day, Daniela is performing at the ' Sabistock'  rock concert down in Sabinillas, ( see below)  and will be collected later this evening, ‘Chispa’ has been here this morning and no doubt will be back later.

Overnight the ‘Poniente’ wind returned and is still blowing this morning, hence, making it a good drying day, the sun is out and the sky is blue, its still due to reach the high 30 degs later but over the next few days the forecast has changed a little because of the wind and by Tuesday we could even have some of the wet stuff, for the first time in over six months, the rest of Spain is already suffering from storms & rain. See the picture below of a stormy Mediterranean looking down to Gibraltar & across to Africa.

Today it’s the return of football; in the Premiere League the early kick off and the ‘Match of the Day’ is when ‘ Jose Mourinho’s Manchester Utd welcome ‘ Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, I will watch it ‘ live’ via ‘ First Row Sports’ – then later Liverpool play the ‘ Champions’ Leicester at Anfield in front of the very impressive new stand, on Monday Everton travel across to Sunderland; over here in ‘ La Liga’ Real Madrid welcome Osasuna & Barcelona welcome Alaves, both new promoted to the ‘ La Liga’

Result; Manchester Utd 1 - Manchester City 2 !!

Result; Liverpool 4 -Leicester 1 !!!!

Meanwhile it’s the penultimate stage of the ‘Vuelta d’Espana’ as Chris Froome, now only just over a minute behind Quintana after winning yesterdays Time Trial, attempts over a very hilly and steep climb to the finish to take the Race leaders ‘ Red Jersey’ – see the route maps below. Watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having a large ‘ Entrecote Steak ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest and cut ‘French Style’ & served with grilled Asparagus Spears and sautéed Button Mushrooms, Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – lots of ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce on the side! See below. On Sunday I’m making my special ‘ Lancashire Hot Pot ‘ using Spanish Lamb Steaks & Chuletas (Cutlets)!

Last night we channel hopped and watched all the Quiz shows before catching ‘Would I Lie to You ‘ & later ‘ Mock the Week’ – over on ITV the excellent Joanna Lumley started her travelogue as she travelled down Japan from the frozen wastes of the North to the Islands of the South, finally we watched a repeat episode of our favourite ‘ New Tricks’ back on BBC.

Later this afternoon we will have our regular ‘ Happy Hour’ sadly now down on the sofa in the lounge, not up on the roof patio in the sky, it’s gets too hot and is not very nice looking at a blank white wall!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
