A VERY WARM & STICKY SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 1st / SEPTEMBER 2016 !

Today is a rather special anniversary, its 10 year to the day, on the 1st September 2006, when we set off in the ‘ Winnebago’ down to Dover and crossed over on the ferry to Calais, our first night in France was spent on the airport car park in ‘ Le Touquet-Paris-Plage ‘ The following day we found the site next to the ‘ Hippodrome’ The elegant town happens to be twinned with ‘Witney’ near Oxford, where we bought the ‘ Winnebago’ and set off from! The rest is history as we set off on our travels across France & Spain and ended up her in sunny Manilva!!

PS; Check out the ‘Blog’ from the early days by clicking back on the date list! See below the first picture of Brenda, in 'La Touquet' and when we were away on the Island of 'Lle De Re' off La Rochelle!

I was up first this morning to welcome back ‘ Reina’ for the day as Lee dropped her off, ‘ Chispa’ came running up the street, her bell ringing, to greet her at the same time! We then sorted ourselves out and had breakfast, Smoked Bacon Butties with tea, it was then time to get the shopping list ready for tomorrow morning, Lee is joining us for supper tomorrow evening when we I’m making my famous ‘ Seafood Risotto’ – he’s on medication at the moment with the same sort of symptons as I‘ve had?!

We have another hot & sticky day ahead,the weekend is going to get hotter as the days go one, we will need the sun cover canopies for the ' Vendimai Festival'! See the the pictures below,  taken back in 2013, when the new' Grape' crushing pit, in the ' Plaza de Vendimia' was christened by me and two Councillors!!

The water wagon came down our street yesterday afternoon, washing the local streets, so I got then to wash down the house at the same time, then our maintenance man called in, he fixed some little repairs, arranged to come back to finish them, took pictures of all the damp spots ready for the painters and checked all the front shutters, two or three will need new ones.( Old Age ! )

He then checked out our downstairs toilet that is blocking and gurgling, he went outside to check the drains and after further investigations declared that we have a problem! We are going to need camera’s down the drains as he thinks that we have a serious blockage or even worse a broken drain pipe, fingers crossed, the drain runs under the main kitchen and then across the lounge!  ( Old Age again ! ) Watch this space!!

It’s Stage 12 of the ‘ Vuelta d’ Espana’ today, see the route maps below, yesterday Chris Froome won the stage on the last very steep climb of 6 kms to the finish, he moved into second place ( 54secs back)  behind Quintana who is looking very strong and came in second, Quintana did not ride well in the ‘Tour De France’ –  it now turns out that he was saving himself for the ‘ Vuelta’!!

This evening as its the ‘ Chef’s & Staff’ night off we are going along to Bar Castillo¡ for a ‘al fresco’ Tapas supper.

Yesterday evening after catching all the Quiz shows we settled down to watch ‘ The Great British Bake Off ‘ before catching later over on ITV the first new episode of ‘ DCI Banks ‘ – the contemporary detective drama starring in the title role ‘ Stephen Tompkinson’ – its series five, there are six original episodes, the self contained stories told over two episodes, its very realistic and gripping, one to watch and follow, the large cast has actors from many hit programmes, don’t miss it!
