A VERY CRISP AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 1st/ FEBRUARY 2015. !

No lie in this morning as little princess ‘Reina’ was arriving just after breakfast for a sleep over, she is being picked up on Monday evening and then is back on Tuesday morning and Thursday morning; ‘Scruffy’ is back with us on Friday for a two day sleep over then being picked up next Sunday morning, of course ‘Chispa’ will be calling in every day as normal to see her friends and play!

After breakfast we sorted our plans out for the week ahead down here on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ On Wednesday morning Brenda has an appointment down at the hairdressers for a cut & blow and then on Friday morning we going down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, my visit to my barbers over in Estepona will be one day the following week as we have some other messages in Estepona at the same time.

The menu’s for the week are also taking shape, this evening we are picking up later a ‘Roast Chicken’ from the ‘Rotisserie’ in Calle Mar to have with diamond cut Green Beans & Rissole potatoes along a with a Mixed salad,( Chef's night off!).See the picture below of Maria 'Pollo' & her husband.

On Monday evening its going to be a ‘Sexton Mixed Grill’ using Steak,Liver,Lamb Cutlet, Sausage & Bacon etc; on Tuesday I’m making a large pan of my famous ‘Chicken Curry’ Monday morning I’m making a fresh batch of my famous Tomato salsa as on Friday morning it will be time for some more of my famous heart warming  ‘Minestrone soup!

After our showers we are going for a walk with both the dogs as the sun is starting to come out, the wind has dropped but it’s still rather cold due to the front from the UK – 15/16degs! Next week is steadily getting better as the week goes on.

In Calle Mar at lunchtime there was a bouncy Castle for children and on the stage in front of the Town Hall it was Keep Fit Class for all as you can see above! We stopped at Bar Rojas for a drink and our friend Antonio insisted that we join him for Lumy's Paella - see the picture below!

Last night after our ‘Steak Diane’ which brought back lots of memories, I first found out how to make it back in Liverpool in the mid 60s! I also learned 'Scampi Provencale' and the classic 'Flambe' dish " Crepe Suzette" - all under the watchful eye of the old Head Waiter Mr.Oliver!!

At the Hotel Seventy Degrees in the 80s we had an Italian ‘Gueridon’ waiter Jo Zanni who made it along with ‘Steak au Poivre’and then at the Riverside Hotel in Branston in this ‘century’ it was our Portuguese Head Waiter Jose and his staff who kept the tradition going! See the picture below of a ‘Double Gueridon Trolley’ like I had made for the Hotel 70*!

Last night after supper we found a film to watch “ Alex Cross ” from 2012 – the third film taken from the James Patterson books about the ‘Detective Dr.Alex Cross’- this time played by Tyler Perry, in the first two Morgan Freeman was mis-cast,he was too old for the part, in this one Tyler Perry was just right but the film was a ‘Raspberry’ and directed terribly  – the first two movies were very good!!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
