A CRISP AND VERY SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 6th/ FEBRUARY 2015.

We were up with the birds this morning and after a quick breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping; I first went into the local branch of our bank and spoke to the manager about the cash machine withdrawals on Wednesday, one refund has come back into our account but we are still waiting for another, the transfer has still not happened so we are going to call into our bank in Estapona on Monday and get it all sorted, The Manger in Sabinillas was very helpful, for a change, and showed me how to do the transfers in the future online!

Next we picked the papers up and then the main shop at ‘Mercadona’before stopping on the promenade for some fresh flowers, we then shot along the coast road to Pueblo Nuevo Guadiaro just past Sotogrande and ‘Hit’ Iceland, we are now the proud owners of the ‘Iceland Discount Card’! We then went and found the ‘Hostel Drago’ in the village but just missed Mano.

Later this morning I’m making some ‘Duglere’ sauce for tonight to have with the ‘Poached Hake Fillets’ which we are having with some Baby Minted New Potatoes in their skins and Garden Peas. Tomorrow morning I’m going to make a fresh batch of my famous ‘Minestrone Soup’

This evening it’s the kick off of this years ‘Six Nations Rugby Union’ when Wales welcome England to the ‘Millennium’ stadium in Cardiff with the roof open?! I will watch it upstairs in the office after I’ve found out what channel it’s on. I was in luck as it was on BBC 1 TV so I was able to watch it via my IT connection - what a result as England won after a very good second half performance 16 - 21 !!

As we got back to the house ‘Chispa’ came rushing up the street and tried to get into the car, she loves going out and sits on Brenda’s lap with her paws on the dashboard or her head out of the window! ‘Scruffy’ is with us on Saturday & Sunday. We will go out at lunchtime with her for a walk.

Today its another glorious day here in sunny Manilva, the sun was out early and the sky is blue, the wind has dropped and so it’s very pleasant if a little ‘Crisp’ - the forecast for the weekend and into the start of next week is for more of the same and getting a little warmer, up from 12degs to 14degs, unlike the rest of Spain which is snow bound with drivers trapped in their cars, village cut off and lots of transport differculties,the overall temperatures are in the minus all over the country – pleas note Mr. Ian Duncan Smith!!

This evening after our ‘Fish Supper’ we will find a film to watch, last night we caught the Joanna Lumley programme on her adventure going the full length of the River Nile to find its source,we have seen some of it before but they are showing it again on TVE2 with back to back episodes!

Thoughts for the Day’ See above.
