A STILL VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 24th/ AUGUST 2014.

Just a little lie in this morning after last nights “Noche Del Embrujo” party/festival in Calle Mar; it was one ‘Helluva’ night which ended at 4-00am this morning! The whole evening was a great success, very well organised by the ‘Tourism Department’ of the Council with Emilo, the village Doctor and Deputy Mayor in charge, I thanked him, his deputy Pacqui and the Mayor Antonia for an excellent new festival which we hope will be added to the calendar next year!

We walked up to the top of our street and found the best table in the ‘House’ – outside ‘Bar Rojas’ – in front of the padres house at the top of our street and next to the main stage! Den & Josie came along and joined us for a while to take in the sights and sounds along Calle Mar; the main street lights had been turned off including ours down Calle San Vicente, then they lit up all the trees with the various changing colored flood lights, candle lights along the floor and naked flame lights on all the lamp posts, also all the front of the house had projected light shows and flamenco scarves on all the balconies and finally the whole street was covered in leaves and soft branches which had been highly scented so as when you walked along it gave off a very nice aroma to set off the scene!

The four stages along Calle Mar had very good lighting and sound effects and the acts started on the main stage in front of the Town Hall and then changed to the other so as there was always something on! I will post the pictures later in five sections, Tango, Flamenco, Fire Dancer, Singers and finally some atmosphere and general shots! All will be revealed!!

The Tango exhibition was excellent; the lady is a teacher and offered to take me into one of her classes! The Flamenco dancers and singer( Paco from the village) had real attitude and were very professional, the young lady Fire Dancer brought the house down toward the end of the show and the various singers performed all sorts of music,Flamenco,Rumba,Salsa,Mood and even English pop songs; this is were I ended up dancing in front of the stage with our neighbours wife Yolande singing along to ‘With a Little Help to our Friends & Delilah’! We received a loud cheer and lots of applause when we finished!!

It was real local/village festival with a great friendly atmosphere, even ‘Bodegon Andaluz’ entered into the fun when Andres placed candles all down the street and had live music outside. A great send off for Den on his last weekend this year in sunny Manilva, the “ Queen of Skelton ” retired a little early as she need her beauty sleep for her adoring public!

Just a quick update on the sports front; Everton drew with Arsenal 2-2 after leading 2-0 with ten minutes to go! Over at the ‘Spa Francorchamps’ circuit in Belgium which is the longest and fastest circuit in the  ‘Grand Prix’ calendar with the legendary “ L’Eau Rouge ”downhill/uphill right/left/right bends taken flat out at 190kms - Rosberg took the pole with Hamilton second. And at the start of the “ Vuelta a Espana ”in Jerez it was the nine man team ‘Time Trial’ which was won by the ‘Movistar’ team led by Nairo Quintana.

During the evening we replenished ourselves on Ham/Mayo soft bread sandwiches and cold sausage until we finally came home at about 2-00pm and finished off some Tortilla and more cold sausages in a late night feast!

So today at lunchtime ‘Scruffy’ is being dropped off with his bag and bed for a sleep over so we will then go up to ‘Bar Rojas’ for a cool drink and some Paella if Lumy is all right as she burnt her arm yesterday.Tonight we are having for supper " Entrecote Steak & Frits" !!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
