A VERY COLD AND AT THE MOMENT DRY AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 19th/ JANUARY 2020.

We had just a little lie this morning and after a quick freshen up and an even quicker toast & tea we got today’s ‘ Roast’ on the go;  “ Roast ‘ Lemon’ Chicken with a savoury Mixed Herb Stuffing “  I first cut off the legs & thighs, leaving the ‘ Crown of Chicken’ – they are then seasoned with Lemon juice and Sea Salt and placed on a bed of mixed vegetable ‘Trivets’ – chopped Onions & Garlic, Carrots, Celery, Leeks, Broccoli, Cauliflower & Mushroom stalks, Mixed Herbs, etc, adding a dash of ‘Lea & Perrins & Tabasco’ together with a large spoon of Tomato Frito, salt & pepper, along with a large ‘ glug’ of Vegetable Oil, covered in tin-foil and roasted in a very hot oven, basting regularly.

See below after it came out of the oven;

With the help of the ‘ Second Chef’ I then prepared the ‘ Goose-Fat Roast Potatoes ‘ – the par-boiled potatoes, cut in half, are then tossed in the very hot ‘ Goose- Fat’ – covered in tin-foil, ready to go into a very hot oven this evening.

Meanwhile the ‘ Second Chef’ was preparing the ‘Glazed Baby Carrots – en branch’ Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a three ‘ Cheese’ sauce, Sliced Leeks in a cream sauce, Roast Onion & Garden Peas.

I then make my famous ‘ Finger-Licking ‘ Pan Gravy, after the Chicken is roasted, I remove all the trivets and the majority of the Oil, leaving the roasting juices in the tray, then adding flour, in the traditional manner, then stirring in a rich ‘ Chicken & Vegetable stock, made from the vegetable waters, seasoning to taste, before adding a dash of ‘ Crosse & Blackwell Gravy Browning’ to colour, after straining, it’s left to ‘ cook-off’ under the eye of the ‘Second Chef’!

We had a surprise this morning, as the sky was blue & cloudless, not grey & overcast, as forecast, yesterday afternoon/evening the ‘RAIN’ hit us, overnight it stopped, the stiff breeze is keeping it rather cold, so by lunchtime it’s only going to reach 14 degs+ - overnight down to 7 degs+ with a little sunshine  staying around - next week we are in for a prolonged spell of cold, wet & windy weather, as the ‘ Atlantic’ front settles in, hovering in the low ‘ teens’ with moderate to heavy ‘Wet-Stuff’ all the time, only going warmer when the sun returns to sunny Manilva next Sunday, watch this space.

Meanwhile over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, the folks are in the middle of a very heavy ‘ Snow Blizzard’ with over 10 inches of snow, Bill had to go and pick Sandra up from work, in his plough truck, he then went back out, he has to be up at 4-00 am for the ‘ contract’ work, on the way home they spotted a Wolf wandering thru the blizzard, as you can see below!

Just a quick update on the football results from yesterday; Manchester City could only manage a 2-2 draw and Everton also drew 1-1, over here Real Madrid won 2-1.

This afternoon we are taking things very easy, relaxing and keeping warm, I’m still very stiff and sore after my fall, the ‘ Night Nurse’ is looking after me, as usual!

Last night we watched the two-part, back to back episodes of ‘ Wisting’ as the Norwegian Detective fought to clear his name, after being suspended, at the same time, tracking from home, another killer, this evening we will catch ‘ Vera’ as she in her usual way tracks down another murderer!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
