A NOW ' FRESH' & WARM SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 11th/ JANUARY 2020.

We had a nice lie in this morning before getting another day on the go down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – after freshening up I first put the gas bottle out for the delivery man, to exchange later, it was then time for our breakfast, so I requested an old classic favourite of “ Eggs Benedict “  - Brenda’s famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Spanish Smoked Ham & English White Toast, coated with the classic ‘Bearnaise’ sauce!  Brenda had ‘ Campo’ Scrambled Eggs on Brown Toast, both served with mugs of hot ‘ PG’ Tips Tea.

This morning has started a little overcast & cloudy, with a light breeze, it’s now clearing slowly and the sun is just breaking through as the clouds clear away, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 16 degs + with sunshine and blue sky, tomorrow will hopefully stay the same, when we are out & about with our dear friend ‘ Joyce Baby ‘ – next week is now forecast to be dry, settled and sunny, with a few patchy clouds hanging around, with still a very light breeze, hovering in the mid/high ‘ teens’ - up to 18/19 degs by next weekend, overnight still going down to 10 degs, during the week, even going a little colder, watch this space.

On the sports front this weekend; over in the UK in the ‘Premiere League’ Everton are at home to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool travel down to London to play Tottenham Hotspur, on Sunday Manchester City go down the M6 to play Aston Villa, here in Spain there is no ‘ La Liga’ this weekend as it’s the start of the ‘Copa Del Rey’

Meanwhile over in ‘ Saudi Arabia’ it’s the Final of the ‘Spanish Super Cup ‘ as Real Madrid play Atletico Madrid, as the ‘ Saudi’s’ paid 40m Euros for the rights to play!

The ‘ National Hunt Racing’ this afternoon is from Warwick.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks’ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – pink no blood and then left to rest, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms and ‘ French-Fried’ Onion Rings ( Cruzcampo Beer ‘Tempura’ Batter ) with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and of course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’ – accompanied with the classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce and Dijon Mustard.

Of course tomorrow we are out for our ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch’ with our dear friend ‘ Joyce Baby’ ( from Chester) who is coming down from her house in ‘ Alhaurin el Grande’ for the day, as we are going down to Castillo de la Duquesa to ‘ La Taberna 2 ‘ – so tomorrow ‘Blog’ with all the pictures, will be posted later than usual, watch this space!

Last night we found an excellent documentary to watch about the World famous “ Raffels Hotel “ in Singapore, opened in 1887, after being closed for two years for a ‘Hundred’s of Millions’ total refurbishment/renovation!

You are greeted by the iconic ‘Sikh’ doorman, Narajan Singh, who has been at the hotel for over 26 years, in his crisp ‘ Gieves & Hawkes’ military uniform with gloves and a gold belt!

It now has 115 suites with ‘ Butler’ service, over the three floors, so no lifts needed!  There are six restaurants including the classic ‘ BBR by Alain Ducasse, the ‘La Dame de Pic’ with Anne-Sophie Pic and ‘ yi’ by Jereme Leung!

Not forgetting the historic “ Long Bar “ which is World famous for being the home of the classic ‘ Singapore Sling ‘ – it showed the Head Bartender, a local lady making the classic ‘Cocktail’ which was invented back in 1915, the ingredients are fresh Lime Juice, Pineapple Juice, Benedictine, Orange Liqueur, Grenadine Syrup, Angostura Bitters, Gin* & Cherry Brandy!  The ‘*Gin’ comes from the ‘Galsworthy’ family copper-pot distillery, a classic ‘Sipsmith’ London Dry Gin!

PS; We have a classic ‘Singapore Sling’ glass from the ‘ Long Bar’ which Jeff & Annette, from Australia , brought us many year ago, sadly we have not made it yet, it’s on the ‘Wish List’!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
