A STILL ' CRISP' AND SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 17th/ JANUARY 2020.

We were both up very early this morning and after a quick freshen up we set off on our travels down to Sabinillas, for our weekly shopping, after catching the local Bus from outside the ‘ Wine Centre’ – Brenda was able to join me for the first time in a long while as we have no guests in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ – as we went down through the vine fields the large ‘Red/Full Sun’ was coming up above the Mediterranean, as you can see below.

Opposite the bus stop in the large ‘Toto’ building the signs have gone up for a new, as rumoured, supermarket “ SUMA “ – which is a large provincial chain! As we returned there was a large lorry unloading goods!  I wonder do they know that the main road, in front, is about to be dug up?! Watch this space.

Brenda walked up to ‘ Super Sol’ for the English essentials, I waited for the ‘English Bookshop’ to open and collected the local newspapers, I then went along to ‘ Mercadona’ – which was very quiet, for our main shop, meanwhile Brenda called into the ‘ Ferraterias’ for various light bulbs, now all halogen, we then met inside ‘ Mercadona’ – before Brenda went back to the ‘ Chinese Bazaar ‘ - after it opened, for a new wall clock for the kitchen and replacement picture frame, I then popped along to the ‘Bazaar’ for new pair of slippers, we then called a taxi and came back up to the house to unload, the only thing that we could not fit in was going to the ‘Jewellers’ for a new battery for Brenda’s watch! We then had a quick toast & tea to get our day on the go.

The sun was out first thing this morning ( see above) and the clouds are slowly clearing and the sky is now blue, as the light breeze blows in ,it will be sunny Manilva, by lunchtime it will reach 19 degs+ - overnight back down to 9 degs+ - the next wet, windy & cols ‘ Atlantic’ front is now hitting us from tomorrow, the breeze is stiffening and the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ is due to return, over the weekend, next week and over next weekend, we are in for more of the same, all week, with patchy clouds and a little sunshine, with light to moderate ‘RAIN’ on most days, hovering in the low ‘teens’ – 12/13 degs, as the breeze keeps up, watch this space.

Yesterday evening our friend Andy called for chat & catch up, so we asked him to stay for supper, we had the ‘ Beef & Vegetables Stew’ and I managed to find him some ‘Chicken Schnitzels’ with ‘Spaghetti Milanese’ for him, he ‘ Sang for his Supper’ by changing/fixing some high light bulbs in the bathroom and top stairs! He then kindly left a message, in ‘Spanish’ – on the garage man’s line, as it was not answering! It’s now four week’s with still no conclusion about the repairs/ re-take of the cars ‘ ITV – MOT’ Watch this space.

We had a nice catch-up/news message from Sandra & Bill, over in a very ‘ Snowy’ Everett, Ontario, Canada, yesterday afternoon, despite the heavy snow it’s been the warmest January on record, so far! Sandra has sciatica and it’s been getting increasingly worse over the past few weeks, so she is having treatment & massage with pain killers, they have booked a mini-getaway in March, they are going down to Florida to see some friends, take care when you are out & about in the ‘ Snow’ !!

For our supper this evening we having, again;  “ Goujons of Hake Fillet in a ‘Cruzcampo’ Tempura Beer Batter “ – shallow fried in Vegetable Oil until crisp & golden, accompanied with lots of Lemon Wedges and homemade ‘Tartar’ sauce ( Brenda) served with ‘Garden Peas’ ( we have used al the tinned Mushy Peas!) and triple-cooked ‘ Chips’

On Saturday evening it’s going to be a large ‘ Grilled Rib of Beef – on the bone’ with all the trimmings, then on Sunday we are having a ‘ Roast Chicken’ with Mixed Herb stuffing, not forgetting the ‘Pan Gravy’ - with  lots of fresh Vegetables and of course ‘ Goose-Fat Roast Potatoes’!

We are taking things easy for the rest of the day and over the weekend, staying warm & wrapped up as the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ hits us from tomorrow, this evening we will channel hop to find something to watch.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
