We all had a little lie in this morning
after another rather uncomfortable night, it was hot & sticky and very
close, ‘Chico’ slept all night in hid bed and then on the marble floor under
our bed, he’s a joy to have with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’- he’s very good
company, eats well and when he goes out for his four walks a day he’s already selected
his spots to leave his messages ( then bagged!) During the day he’s very
content & quiet, he gets on with the other dogs, we will miss him when he’s
collected on Tuesday evening, he’s back in a couple of weeks for another
weekend sleep-over! Just after he goes ‘ Scruffy’ is joining us for a sleep-over,
then on Wednesday morning ‘ Reina’ is back with us for just two days next week.
This morning the sky is clearing slowly and
the sun has just broken through, the mist/fog has gone, by lunchtime it will be
hot & sunny, reaching 28/29degs, next week is now looking warm & sunny
slowly raising to the low 30s, watch this space.
Yesterday afternoon we called our dear
friends Sandra & Bill on the Skype video, we had a long catch up with their
news about their trip to Long Island and on a ferry to the coast off Connecticut
to see the 4th July fireworks display, the pictures followed later.
While they were on they put their TV on in their large kitchen and we watched
the final of the Ladies Tennis from Wimbledon as the Spanish lady Garbine
Muguruza beat Venus Williams in two sets, the second one 6-0 ( a Doughnut!) –
we had it on downstairs but the Canadian coverage was a little ahead of ours?! Meanwhile
Lewis Hamilton is on the pole position for today’s ‘ British Grand Prix ‘ from
Silverstone, Bill gave me the news before I had a chance to catch the highlights
later! It’s a small world!!
Yesterday in the ‘ Tour De France’ Chris
Froome sensationally reclaimed the Yellow jersey after a thrilling, short, uphill
sprint finish at the end of the stage, he turned a six-second deficit into a 18
second lead, over the Italian rider Fabio Aru, today’s Stage 15 goes from ‘Laissac-Sererac
L’Eglise’ to’Le Luy-En-Vealy’ over 189 kms, with four major climbs and then a
long downhill finish, tomorrow is a well deserved ‘ Rest Day’ - watch this space.
Today down in Castillo
de la Duquesa & Puerto de la Duquesa it’s the ‘ Virgen Del Carmen ‘
Festivals, the two Tableau’s are carried by the faithfull and meet in the
harbour, led by the Manilva Brass Band, they are then taken out to sea on the fishing
boats and blessed.
It all finished tonight
with more singing & dancing and a firework display at midnight, tomorrow is
a local Bank Holiday. It’s our turn next, at the end of this month, watch this
space.
This afternoon we will
be watching the Final of the ‘Men’s Tennis’ from Wimbledon as Roger Federer
goes for his eighth title against Marin Cilic from Croatia, then it’s the time
for the Mixed Doubles Final, later I will catch up with the highlights of the
Grand Prix.
On the ‘ Old Liverpool
Facebook’ page this morning it’s showing the famous old Green Buses at the Pier
Head, the number ‘ 30 Aintree ‘ bus was the one I went on to the ‘ Boys ‘ only ‘Collegiate
Grammer School’ and then the ‘Catering
College’ in Colquitt Street at the top of Bold Street in the center of Liverpool,
as well as when out in Liverpool, over many years, more happy memories from the
late 50s, early 60s!
See the picture below of the ' Beatles ' as I knew them in the early 60s with Pete Best on the drums.

See the picture below, my class room was on the first floor behind the large bay window on the
right, many memories, some not so happy!
For our supper this
evening we are having at Brenda’s request, for her, ‘A Confit Leg of Duck’ and I’m having a ‘
Entrecote Minute Steak ‘ smeared in Dijon Mustard and ‘ Flash-Seared’ on a very
hot Griddle plate, with a little section of vegetables and a Baked Potato on
the side for me!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
