A FRESH & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 20th/ JULY 2017.

We received a  early text message from Daneila letting us know that ‘Reina’ would not be joining us today, they have no electricity or water so they have taken the day off, which means that she is back with us on Friday morning instead.

So we had a nice surprise lie in before getting the day on the go, we are expecting the maintenance man to arrive later this morning to repair the toilet in the upstairs bathroom, ‘ Chispa’ came and joined us for breakfast, ‘Weetabix’ - toast & tea, we then prepared the shopping list for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels down to Sabinillas on the bus! It’s going to be a double list as next week with all the  ‘Festivals, Concerts & Feria’ taking place in Calle Mar, the taxi back will not be able to get near our house as all the streets are blocked off!

The breeze is a little stronger this morning so the sky is clear and the sun was out early, it makes it more bearable, especially in the late afternoon when it’s due to reach 31 degs+ Over the weekend we are in for more of the same, the breeze is due to drop, next week is looking warm & sunny staying on the 30 degs mark, watch this space.

The Council workmen have started to erect the stage in front of the Town Hall, at the top of our street, ready for the ‘ Flamenco Fashion Show’ on Saturday evening, there is no sign of them putting up, along ‘Calle Mar’ the  Green awnings to keep the sun off the street during the ‘Brass Band’ Concert, the ‘ Santa ‘Ana Festival’ and then the ‘Feria’- all next week, they do when it’s the ‘ Vendimia’ Wine Festival at the start of September, when it’s not so hot?! I’ve been chasing the local Councillors with no luck, the Ex-Mayor didn’t know anything, I will catch our neighbour Mario, the Mayor this evening, watch this space.

See below what I'm talking about!

We are going out this evening as it’s the ‘ Chef’s & Staff’ night off, we are having supper at ‘Bar Rojas’ then will pop down to the ‘ Casa De Los Torres’ Cultural Centre to check out the ‘Flamenco & Bulls ‘ Concert.

Chris Froome extended his lead in the ‘ Tour De France’ in a thrilling mountain stage, Fabio Aru slipped from second to fourth overall, his two nearest rivals are +27 second behind going into today’s last mountain stage from ‘Briancon to Izoard ‘ over 179 kms with a high mountain top finish up the ‘ Col d’Izoard’- the last chance to attack him is on Saturday, before the finish on Sunday in Paris, it’s a ‘ Time Trial’ – which Chris Froome is a specialist at!

See the maps & route below;

Finally you can see below a picture of the Aircraft carrier the ‘Ark Royal 111’ leaving the River Mersey, from the old Pier Head, in Liverpool back in 1938, she was built at the ‘Cammell Lairds’ ship yard in Birkenhead, Brenda’s dad, Walter, helped build it, he worked at the ship yard all his working life, if you go back on the Blog to Wednesday 16th November 2011 there is the full story and pictures of the tragic end to the great ship, he later helped build the next one in the line in 1943/50!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
