I was up early this morning to see little
princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she’s back tomorrow also, we then
all had a nice lie in, ‘ Scruffy’ sleeps all night on the marble floor under
the bed on my side, he’s such a gentle dog and we love having him with us, he
follows me everywhere and is at my feet as I’m typing/posting the Blog.
Before breakfast I took him for his first
walk of the day, he’s being collected later after Adrian & Rose come back
from the Hospital, when we returned we had ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties ‘ –
open on Brown Bread for Brenda, with a nice strong cup of tea, the tap water in
sunny Manilva has lots of calcium etc, we use the spring water from the well outside our front door, as sometimes the tap water doesn’t make a good cup of tea. ’Chispa’ came calling to check out
her two friends, they all get on with one another.
Later I’m making this evenings supper ‘
Chicken & Mushroom Tarragon Casserole’ – the ‘ Vegetable Chef ‘ is keeping
it simple with Diamond-Cut Runner Beans, Florets of Broccoli and Parsley New
Potatoes. Tomorrow night it’s the Chef & Staff night off, we are going
along to Bar Castillo for a Tapas supper and then will take in the ‘Flamenco
& Bulls ‘ Concert in the ‘ Casa De Los Torres-Cultural Centre ‘
Overnight it was another hot & sticky night’s
sleep, by this morning after the sun broke through and the sky had cleared a
nice breeze had picked up making it rather pleasant, by lunchtime it will be 33
degs, as forecast, over the weekend it’s going to be a little cooler then next week
we are in for ‘Hot One’ - in both senses of the word, watch this space.
The Council workmen have this morning
arrived at the bottom of our street and started to clear and then renovate a
small square on ‘ Calle Andrades’ which is the main street in the ‘Barios
Andrades’ – the area around our house, last year they improved the small square,
& children’s play area, at the far end, watch this space.
This week in the village we also have on
Saturday evening up in ‘ Calle Mar’ in front of the Town Hall, at the top of
our street, there is a ‘ Flamenco Fashion Show ‘ followed by a ‘Flamenco’
dinner in the Cultural Centre, meanwhile down in Castillo de la Duquesa the
Medieval Market opens for the summer season.
Next week is going to be a ‘ Helluva’ week
in sunny Manilva; on Tuesday on a stage at the top of ‘Calle Mar’ it’s the
annual ‘ Manilva Brass Band Concert’ -
then on Wednesday it’s the ‘Festival De Santa Ana’- the patron saint of the
village, with the religious procession led by the band then singing, dancing,
drinking & eating to two bands on the stages into the small hours.
On Friday, for the first time in over 11
years, the Annual ‘Feria’ returns to the village, based in ‘Calle Mar & the Plaza de la Vendimia’
with the fair, various events, more singing, dancing, eating & drinking,
with two bands on both stages, everyday, lasting over three days and finishing
on Sunday evening with a Firework display! Will we survive?! Watch this space.
Yesterday in the ‘ Tour De France’ Chris
Froome retained the race leaders ‘ Yellow’ jersey, today’s Stage 17 from La
Mure to Serre Chevalier is over 183 kms and crosses the highest point of this
year’s Tour, the famous ‘ Col du Galibier ‘ in the Alps, with three other climbs on the way, will
Froome make a move on all his nearest rivals, watch this space.
Last night after supper we watched the
second part of the excellent & gritty police drama “ In the Dark “ – the pregnant
lady detective played by MyAnna Burning, returned to her home town in
Derbyshire and solved the murder and the kidnapping, she found the last girl
still alive, it was the ex-policeman/pub landlord, as the story went along we
also found out that the father of her baby could be one of two policeman colleague’s,
it also tuned out that as a child she was sexually abused by a friend of her
father, which she then reported to her boss, next week she takes on another
case, watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
