A BREEZY & VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 8th/ JULY 2017.

We had a nice long lie in this morning as the village and particularly our street was very quiet, no deliveries, no children, no church bells, so far, and no chatter from the locals going about their business. For our breakfast I had a ‘Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ – Brenda was just on her brown bread ration, with mugs of strong ‘ PG Tips’

As we finishing breakfast I caught the end of the 3rd Test Match over in New Zealand as the game was drawn 15-15 in an epic game of rugby, meaning the series is drawn 1-1 between the New Zealand ‘All Blacks’ and the ‘ British and Irish Lions’ – ‘Jonny Sexton’ played his heart out!

The sun was out early this morning and the sky is bright blue, there is a little breeze that came along during the night, it makes it very pleasant, by lunchtime it will be hovering on the 30 + mark, over the next couple of days it’s going a little higher, the rest of next week is the same before next weekend when it’s going to hotter, watch this space.

We are taking things easy today, doing nothing in particular, because we can, Brenda is pottering about, at the moment catching up with the ironing and I’m in the office/studio on the WWW catching up on the news, reading the newspapers online, ‘Facebook’ messages, E-Mails, etc before typing and posting today’s Blog, as you can see!

Iv’e just found an old post card picture, see below, from 1911 approx, showing ‘ St. Johns Lane, opposite St.Johns Gardens behind St.George’s Hall, in Liverpool, it ran down from Lime Street towards what would become the entrance to the first Mersey Tunnel many years later, the building with a spire on the left is St.Johns House, originally for the ‘Pearl Assurance Company’ – the small street on the left led to the ‘ Stork Hotel’ in Queens Square, the building with the black windows became staff accomodation for the hotel, my flat as the Manager was on the first floor, corner, above a very famous Liverpool pub, the ‘Trojens Head’ in the picture! Happy days and very many happy memories from the mid 60s!

And how I remember it!

This afternoon we will be watching more Tennis from the ‘Wimbledon Championships’ and then later Stage 8 of the ‘ Tour De France’ as it goes into the Jura Mountains from ‘Dole to Station Des Rousses’ over 188 kms with four main climbs before the finish, yesterday the German sprinter, Marcel Kittel, won his second consecutive stage, Chris Froome has the leaders ‘ Yellow’ jersey going into today’s stage, see below.

For our supper this evening we are having  “ French Trimmed “ - ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steaks’ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, whole Baby Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – served with  the classic Egg Yolk & Butter, White Wine Vinegar &  Tarragon Herb sauce ‘ Bearnaise ‘ on the side!

 Not for the fainthearted!

This evening down on the beach in Sabinillas it’s the ‘Full Moon – Luna Llena ’ party, all dressed in White, with singing, dancing, drinking, eating etc as they party till dawn.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
