A VERY BREEZY & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF A ' HELLUVA' WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 21st/ JULY 2017.

I was up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she shot onto her duvet and I shot off down on the bus to Sabinillas on my travels, for the weekly shopping, I popped into the ‘ English Bookshop’ for the local English newspapers before going along to an already busy ‘ Mercadona’  for our major two-week stock up, on the check-out was our neighbours daughter, Marta, she plays in the Brass Band, has been a ‘Feria’ queen and is the niece of the Mario, the Mayor, we have seen her grown up, go through school & college, do some modelling work, with various small jobs for the Council etc. She organised the Taxi for me.

The Taxi stopped at ‘ Super-Sol’ where I picked up the English essentials, we then came back up to the village through the back streets to the house as ‘ Calle Mar ‘ is closed, the Council workmen are erecting the poles along the street that support the green sun cover, lighting etc, it looks like they have responded to my suggestion, they are also repairing the flagstones along the street, watch this space.

The sky was clear and the sun was out early this morning, there is a stiff breeze keeping it very pleasant, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 35 degs, overnight 24 degs, over the weekend it’s staying in the low 30s and next week is going to be even hotter, watch this space.

Brenda has just walked down to the local market down by the sports complex and come back with the fresh flowers and new wall plants.

See the display below of our house in ‘ Full Bloom’

And our neighbour ' Pilars ' " Bougainvillea " around the corner!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet’ using local breadcrumbs from the bakery, Mushy Peas and twice-cooked diced ‘Frits’ with homemade ‘Tartar’ sauce on the side & lots of Lemon wedges! Tomorrow night it’s going to be a large ‘Entrecote’ steak cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and then left to rest before slicing it ‘ French’ style into fingers, Sunday is TBC, watch this space.

On Saturday after supper we are going up to watch the ‘ Flamenco Fashion’ Show on the stage in front of the Town Hall and along Calle Mar, at the top of our street!

Last night we had a nice supper at ‘ Bar Rojas ‘ – Brenda had the Mixed Meats Brochettes ‘ cooked on the BBQ with vegetables and I had the  ‘Iberico Pork Secreto ‘ also cooked on the BBQ, then sliced and served on crisp ‘ Frits’ – see the picture below.

We then moved along to ‘Bar Castillo’ before calling into the   ‘Casa de los Torres – Cultural Centre ‘ to catch some of the ‘ Flamenco & Bulls ‘ concert, it was music, singing and dancing with a theme of bullfighting, with a story teller, the band was the ‘Professors of Music’ led by Fernando on the clarinet.

See the pictures above.

Today in the ‘Tour De France ‘ Stage 19 goes from Embrun to Salon.de.Provence over a hilly 222 kms - the longest stage on this year’s Tour, Chris Froome  fought off his rivals in the last climb of the day and retains the race leaders ‘ Yellow ‘ jersey,  he’s going to be attacked again today, so will have to be very careful, tomorrow it’s the 22 kms ‘ Time Trial’ in Marseille, starting & finishing in the ‘Orange Velodrome’ The last stage on Sunday evening into Paris is ‘ Ceremonial ‘ !

See the maps & route below;

Finally see below some pictures of the Historic Buildings of Liverpool lit up last night with the rainbow colours. Spectacular!!
