We had a nice, long, lie in this morning,
the village is very quiet, no deliveries, church bells or children, also no
guests in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ this weekend, as we opened up the house, put
all the fans on, pulled the shutters up and opened the windows, ‘Chispa’ came
crashing in for her first visit of the day, she comes in & out all the
time. For breakfast we had fresh, local, Orange juice, followed by our ‘Weetabix’
toast & tea.
Overnight the stiff breeze has dropped,
this morning the sun was out early and the sky is bright blue, by lunchtime it’s
going to be hot, 31 degs+ and rising to 33/34 degs tomorrow, next week is very
warm & settled, hovering in the low 30s, hopefully the sun awnings, along ‘Calle Mar
‘ will make a difference for all the festivals and the Feria’ during the week, at the moment the Council workmen are putting up the awnings along the street, watch
this space.
We have re-planned the menu’s for the
weekend, at lunchtime we are now having a soft ‘ Brunch ‘ of ‘Campo’ Fried
Eggs, Crispy Smoked 'English' Back Bacon, Chorizo, Mushrooms & Tomato and Saute Potatoes, with toast, this is
because this evening we are going out for a light ‘Tapas’ supper before watching the ‘ Flamenco
Fashion Show’ in front of the Town Hall on the stage and along the street.
So on Sunday it’s ‘ Steak Night’ when we
are now having the large ‘Entrecote’
steak cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest before
slicing it ‘ French’ style into fingers, served with a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce, finely sliced Green Beans,
seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms and of course twice-cooked ‘
Chips’
See below the counter display, this morning
of our local butchers ‘ Carniceria Jose ‘ ( Chuli!) with all his local, fresh,
home-killed, Chickens, Pork, Beef, Lamb etc and on the right his made-up dishes
including his marinated diced Pork that I use in my famous’ Brochettes’!
In yesterdays days ‘Tour De France’ Chris
Froome retained the race leaders ‘ Yellow ‘ jersey, going into today’s ‘ Stage 20 ’ which is a 22.5 kms ‘Time Trial’ down in Marseille, starting and
finishing in the ‘ Orange’ Velodrome, he should make more time on his nearest
rivals as he is a very good/expert ‘Time Trialist’ The whole race is then transferred
by plane to outside Paris for tomorrow’s
final ‘ Ceremonial ' stage. Watch this space.
Next week is now going to be one ‘Helluva’
week here in sunny Manilva down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – on Tuesday its the
annual ‘Manilva Brass Band ‘ Concert, then on Thursday it’s the ‘ Santa Ana ‘
Festival, starting with the religious procession of the patron saint of the
village, on Friday the annual 3 day ‘ Feria ‘ is back in the village for the
first time in 11 years, all with music, singing, dancing, eating & drinking
at both, finally on Sunday evening there is a firework display, watch this
space for all the pictures and news!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
