A STILL VERY CLOSE & CLAMMY SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 14th/ JULY 2017.

I was up as usual this morning to welcome back ‘ Reina’ for the day, she shot onto her duvet, ‘ Chico’ has settled in and slept under our bed on the marble floor all night, I had a quick freshen up and shot off to catch the local bus down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping, a local lady stopped and gave me a lift down, Brenda took ‘ Chico’ out for his first walk of the day. ‘Chispa’ called in later to see all her friends.

I collected the local ‘English’ newspapers from the ‘ English Bookshop’ then did the main shop in a already very busy ‘ Mercadona’ – the check-out lady called a taxi for me, I went along to the local market at the far end of the promenade for the fresh flowers and then shot back up the hills through the still misty vine fields where I unloaded back at the house with the help of a very nice lady taxi driver! I then shot along to the Bank in ‘ Calle Mar’ to pay the Electricity Bill.

As I was going down this morning there was a sea mist coming up the valley and covering the mountains, it was very hot & clammy, it’s only just clearing now, but still very cloudy and close, yesterday all the flight into and out of Gibraltar were diverted to Malaga causing chaos, the sun has burnt- away the  most of the mist and it’s now clearing, bright and sunny, over the weekend it’s going to be 28/29 degs, overnight 22 degs, next week is steadily getting hotter into the mid 30s, yesterday it reached in a village outside Cordoba 47.3 degs!

At lunchtime we went along to ' Bar Castillo' for a cool drink and a Tapas.

Earlier this morning the " Disney Magic " arrived in Liverpool for the day, see the picture below.

Brenda has just been down to our Dentist, Victor, for a check up & clean, he fitted her in without an appointment, she is feeling a lot better, she has had a mouthwash and gel from the chemists, the ulcer is now a lot better and she is feeling more like her old self, for now! I’m going down this evening for the same treatment after he asked how I was?! That’s service with a capital ‘S’

Just a quick update on the ' Tour De France' - yesterday Chis Froome lost the leaders ' Yellow ' jersey after he cracked in the last km on the final climb, the Italian, Fabio Aru is now 6 secs ahead, Froome's team mate, Mikel Landa did a great job helping him over the stage, today's Stage 13 is from Saint-Girons to Foix over a short but very hilly 101kms . it's ' Bastille Day' so you can expect a ' Frenchman' to try and win - Romain Bardet?!

See the maps below.

For our supper this evening we are now having ‘ Grilled Fillets of Hake a la Meuniere’ with Parsley New Potatoes & Garden Peas, it was going to be Poached Fish and Mash for the ‘ Girl’! On Saturday the Fillet Steak will hopefully be back on the menu, Sunday is still TBC, possibly something with Rice?!

Last night after ‘ Chico’ was dropped off we went up to ‘Bar Rojas’ first for a nice cool drink, we then went along to ‘ Bar Castillo’ for a light Tapas supper, and another cool drink, Brenda had the house ‘ Croquettes’ as they are soft ( made with Bechamel! )

We bumped into Dean & Donna with Carlos & Tom, then Adrian & Rose with ‘ Scruffy’ and Lllona with her two children, Mick is joining her, from Dublin at the end of the month, he’s going to put up our three new wall pots outside our bedroom balcony, watch this space. I large Swedish family came along and I got talking to them, I found out that Lillemor has already arrived, ahead of her post card, thanks to ‘ Mika’ - so no doubt she will be calling in, I didn’t post hers, we will give it to her when she calls in! On the way home I called into a packed ‘ Casa De Los Torres – Cultural Centre’ and caught the ‘ Flamenco Fusion’ concert, see the pictures below.

Today on ‘Facebook’ on the ‘ Colwyn Bay ‘ page they have posted two pictures from the 1980s of the ‘Hotel Seventy Degrees’  above Colwyn Bay, and a staff picture, asking for people to put names to the faces! With a great result from lots of family, old staff and friends, on the far right, with one ‘Helluva’ mustache is ‘ Mano ‘!!  Lots of very happy memories over the years at the hotel with the loyal staff and customers.

PS; Another post card in the post, this one from Kelvin & Gaye on a Med - Cruise, Kelvin is in the picture above next to Brenda , he was our Assistant Manager for many years!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
