A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 18th/ DECEMBER 2015

.

We were up early this morning and after a quick cup of tea & toast we shot down to Sabinillas on our travels; the first port of call was the bank for some cash before calling to the ‘Wholesale/Retail Fruit & Vegetable’ shop for our local Xmas stuff ie. Parsnips etc! We collected the local weekly newspaper’s from the English Bookshop and ordered two wall charts, next it was the ‘Chinese Bazaar’ for a picture frame, we then hit ‘Mercadona’ for a two week ‘Mega-Shop’ before calling into the ‘English Butchers for some last minute essentials, finally we stopped at the local market at the far end of the promenade for some fresh flowers and plants!!

It was then time to make our way back up the hill through the vine fields to sunny Manilva ,its yet another warm and sunny day after the sun braking through, the sky is now blue and there is no breeze, more of the same over the weekend and into next week. ’Chispa’ was waiting to welcome us back and is playing around my feet up in the office as I’m typing & posting the Blog!

See the pictures below of 'Calle San Vicente' before & after!! ( 60 years ago and now !)

Later I’m making the ‘Fish Pie’ for this evenings supper with my special recipe; I have Hake,Cod,Salmon,Prawns,Mussels, all poached in a rich fish stock & a little Smoked Salmon, I make a vegetable ‘Mirepoix’ with chopped/diced Onions,Carrots,Celery & Leeks sweated off in White Wine, thanks Brenda, the fish stock is the base of the ‘Veloute’ Cream sauce, then its all mixed together with lots of herbs & seasoning along with a squeeze of Lemon Juice before Brenda tops the dish with her famous Mashed Potato ready to go in the oven this evening

.
Last night we arranged to meet ‘Big Bri’ up at ‘Cafe Plaza’ for a Xmas drink as he’s working all over Xmas, he’s started at his new job still in Gibraltar and is really enjoying it, his mate and our friend Steve was with him so we had a good catch up, later Carlos & Andy came along and joined us; the last time we had ‘Fish Pie’ was when Brian made it for us, to his own special recipe in our house before he left to Finland!

After our ‘Curry Supper’ we settled down and watched some English TV including ‘Master Chef –The Professionals’ before coming back to Spanish TV for an all action film.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
