A CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 6th/ DECEMBER 2015. “ DIA DE LA CONSTITCION “

I was up first this morning and took ‘Scruffy’ for his early morning walk as he was being collected by Rose at 9.00 am; we then went out with ‘Barny’ for his first walk of the day; ‘Scruffy’ slept in our bedroom, he starts on the bed and then goes into his bed by the side of Brenda, when he’s ready to go out he jumps back on the bed and lets me know! ‘Barny’ sleeps in the lounge on his Duvet and has to be woken up in the morning!

When we returned we treated ourselves to ‘Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ with HP Sauce and a mug of steaming tea to set us up for the day ahead; I then got this evenings supper on the go, my version of “ Lancashire Hotpot “ I season and then brown off the Spanish Chops/Cutlets and then build up the Hot Pot dish with layers of sliced Onions & Potatoes with diced Carrots, Leeks, Celery & Turnips, the top layer of sliced Potato are cut thin on the ‘Mandoline’ slicer ( thanks Josie !)  I then use a rich Chicken & Vegetable stock and finish off the top with knobs of Butter – it will go in the oven this evening – we are having Pickled Red Cabbage and Braised Cabbage with Alselgas – comfort food to die for! See the picture below;

This evening at 8.30 pm we had a mains power cut,the electricity went off in all the house in the village and did not come back on until 9.30 pm! The power people had to go around each street resetting the junction boxes!! The street lights remained on so we ended up talking in the street to a couple who were looking for something to eat,Dave & Hannah are staying in the 'Hostel Ocana' in Calle Mar, we had a nice chat,they are down here checking out the area with a view to a possible move, nice to meet you and good luck for the future!

The village is very quiet day as its ‘ Constitution Day’ from back in 1978 when the new Spanish Constitution was first written into law, the Bank Holiday is actually Tomorrow and then on Tuesday its the very old Catholic religious ‘ Immaculate Conception’ Bank Holiday – this ‘Feast’ day goes back to 1708! The sun is out and the sky is blue and there is just a slight breeze, by lunchtime it will reach a pleasant 20 degs – see the map below;

On the sports front yesterday Real Madrid won 4-1 but Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw at Valencia, over in England Manchester City played terribly and lost 2-0 at Stoke. In the afternoon we watched the Horse Racing on 'Channel 4' from Sandown Park and Aintree with two races over the 'Grand National' course.

After supper last night we settled down and channel hopped, before we had watched ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ –yesterday morning I also caught ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ as the singer Will Young gave a caller the ‘V’ sign as he voted for him to have ‘Food Hell’ – ‘Calves Liver with Onion & Mash’ It caused uproar in the papers and online! It was so funny, his ‘Food Heaven’ was Pasta ‘-  at the end of the show both the Chefs voted for the Liver, so he had to eat it anyway!

Finally last night at 11-30 pm we heard the sound of a Xmas Band coming along Calle Mar playing and singing with their Rattles, Glass Bottles and Wind/Water drums!  It was a new band with lots of our neighbours as well as some of the workmen off the site, I shot up and took some pictures which showed also the Xmas Lights along the street and the Town Hall all lit up! I then came back to the house to post the pictures and hit the wrong button as I connected the camera to the computer and lost all the pictures! Sorry!!

Thoughts for the Day, See above.
