WARM AND SUNNY IN MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 12th/ JANUARY 2014.

We awoke this morning to yet another glorious day down here in sunny Manilva; the temperatures have risen to 17/18degs, the sun is out, the sky in blue and there is no breeze. The wet stuff could be around tomorrow as the tale of the Atlantic storm passes over the ‘Costa Del Sol

After breakfast I made the ‘Charcutiere ‘sauce for tonight’s supper, sweated the diced Onions, added the Julienne of Gherkins, seasoned with Malt Vineger, Worchester sauce and a dash of Tabasco, then the Mustard paste made with three sorts of Mustard, English, French and American! – added the vegetable stock and cooked out before correcting the consistency, colour and seasoning.

I also sweated off the ‘Breton’ style Potato ingredients, diced Onions, Red & Yellow Peppers and Leeks( we had no green Peppers) with mixed Herbs, sweet Pimento powder and a dash of Tabasco and Worchester sauce that I add to all my sauces!( My secret ingredients!) Brenda was meanwhile washing her hair and later cooked off the Potatoes, Carrots with Ginger and Diamond cut Green Beans to have with the ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet’ which I will cook on the griddle this evening as I make the ‘Breton’ style Potatoes at the same time by dicing the cooked Potatoes and tossing them in foaming butter with the Peppers!

We then went for a walk with the dog around the village and stopped in the ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ and sat on a bench to take in the warm sunshine to the sound of the children playing; we then walked up to Bar Rojas and had a nice cool drink sat outside under the Sonbrajo.

This afternoon I will watch the two games over in England on the large PC as Liverpool and Manchester City are playing, later I will catch the high lights of the Real Madrid game.Newcastle 0 - Manchester City 2 - who now go back to the top of the League, meanwhile down at Stoke -Liverpool won 3-5 !! Real Madrid won 0-1 but Espanyol played very well and deserved a draw.

After supper this evening we will find a film to follow after catching the news, weather and sports updates; last night before our ‘Steak’ supper we watched a good documentary programme on TVE2 about the National foods of Germany and then Brazil; it was presented by Merrilees Parker the chef and TV presenter and is called " Planet Food"  It was very good and very informative. Then we caught the high lights of the Barcelona game before settling down to watch the main movie of the night “ Batman Begins ” from 2005 with a mega-cast of Christian Bale, Katy Holmes, Liam Neeson.Gary Oldham,Micheal Caine,Rutger Hauer and Morgan Freeman!

Thought for the Day; See above.
