DRY BUT WINDY IN SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 19th/ JANUARY 2014.

Well we had another lie in/overslept start to the day ahead, ‘He, He’ cos we can! Over night it was raining heavy but at the moment its dry but the wind as forecast has got up; tea and toast helped to get us started, no roast so we have not a lot to get ready, I’ve just made the ‘Boulangere’ Potatoes – thinly sliced selected potatoes ( by Brenda) cut by hand(Me!) - no ‘Mandoline’ in this kitchen! Then layered with thinly sliced Onions and seasoned on every layer making sure that the potatoes overlap and are pressed down – I then pour over a good/strong Vegetable and Chicken stock and dot the top with knob’s of butter – finely Brenda seals the dish with Tin-Foil ready to go in the oven this evening!

I then trim the ‘Spanish Lamb Cutlets - Chueletas’ and marinade them with lots of seasoning and Tarragon herbs in Virgin Olive Oil; tonight I quickly griddle them and place them on top of the ‘Boulangere Potatoes to finish roasting in the oven. We are having Diamond cut Green Beans, crushed Carrots & Turnips and Garden Peas with lots of Mint Sauce on the side!

The West Brom v Everton game is not till Monday evening so later I will catch the high lights of the Levante v Barcelona match – results later.

Later we will proberly go for a walk if the rain keeps off to stretch the old legs and get some fresh air in the lungs! After supper we will watch the news, weather and sports updates before finding a film to watch, last night we watched a couple of John Travolta movies, nothing special to report!

We did go for a walk around the village later after our shower's,Chispa came crashing in to join us! As you can see above its a beautiful day in sunny Manilva,no rain as forecast and the wind has dropped a little; inside the church they are starting to put back all the artifacts and clean,the two arches in the new passage way have taken shape. We then called into 'Bodega La Espanola' to ask after Victor Hugo( Our Dentist) as he crashed his car a couple of week ago going down the twists to Sabinillas,the car was a right-off but his is OK! He gave us a complementary glass of sweet Manilva wine,his wife gave us to taste some small Spinach Beignets that she had just made - both lovely.

We then got talking to a couple sat in the window who turned out to be German,Klaus & Doreen are from Hamburg and we have ended up booking a table with them for next Saturday lunchtime as Victor is putting on a seven-course Morrocan Banquet !

Thought for the Day; See above.
