OVERCAST BUT STILL WARM IN SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEK

MONDAY 16th/ DECEMBER 2013.

We were up bright and early this morning and after our tea and toast we caught the early bus down to Sabinillas; it’s still a little overcast and cloudy but still warm at the same time, we first called into the Chinese Bazaar for some extra Xmas lights, when we got back and put them on the tree they are too bright! Plan ‘C’!!
Then it was the English bookshop for an condolence card and a couple of extra Xmas crackers, next we called into the ‘Feriatias’ for a light bulb and then discovered that the fruit & vegetable market has moved around the corner to new premises.( Chestnut’s, Stem Ginger and fresh Brussels Sprouts)

It was then time to go in the square for a mug of tea with a Bacon butte and Sausage butte! We then walked up to the larger ‘Super Sol’ for our English goods, Mushy Peas, Heinz Sphagetti,Stock cubes, Curry powder etc’. It was then time to catch the next bus back up to the village but we had a bit of luck as Dominico, Sally Ann’s husband came along so he gave us a lift back up to the house in the executive Jaguar!

I shot around to the butchers for something for tonight’s supper and came back with some Beef Liver; so at Brenda’s suggestion I’ve made a Casserole of Liver with Sausages, sliced Onions, diced Mushrooms and Smokey Bacon ! Brenda has just made some of her famous Mashed Potato and Cabbage with Acelgas.

We then went for a long walk around the village with the dog and soon discovered that they are dismantling the ‘T’ crane at the church – see the pictures above – it will come down quicker than when it went up!

Last nights film was another James Patterson book about Detective Alex Cross “Alex Cross” from 2012,’ this time starring Tyler Perry in the lead part, the first two ‘Cross’ films had Morgan Freeman as the famous detective; he is of course the better actor but did not match the description of Alex Cross and was too old, the story had been re-written and his side kick was a white detective not ‘Sampson’ as in the novel’s; this is the film in which Cross’s wife is killed and has a surprise twist at the end. Mathew Fox, Edward Burns and Jean Reno also star.

Thought for the Day; See above.
