WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA OVER THE LAST THREE DAYS;

MONDAY/TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY 7th/8th/9th/ APRIL 2014.

SUNDAY EVENING;

As I went to check out the WWW on Sunday evening I could not get online, the system had crashed and everything I tried did not work; both PCs and both Mobiles were not going online! I spent a couple of hours trying but with no luck so decided to sleep on it and start again on Monday morning.

MONDAY;

After breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas to pick up some White English Bread( See later!) and from the English bookshop some 65th candles and a balloon and some freshly made desserts from the bakery; when we got back I tried one more time but with no luck so I rang our friend Andy(IT) and he said that he would come around on Tuesday lunchtime to have look as it was his day off. We then got started on the roast supper when Den & Josie ( the 65th birthday girl!) Gillian and her fried Lillemor were joining us for the surprise party!

Roast Lemon Chicken with a savory Herb stuffing and finger licking pan gravy made with the help of the ‘Gravy Browning ‘ that Gillian brought over! Josie had said on Sunday that she loved ‘Bread sauce’ with her Roast Chicken hence the rush down to the supermarket! From the vegetable department we had Cauliflower & Broccoli florets in a four- Cheese sauce, Brussels Sprouts with Smoked Bacon bits, diced Carrot & Baby Turnips in Ginger, Garden Peas, and Parsley New Potatoes and of course my now famous Goose fat half- sliced Roast Potatoes ! I made the Bread sauce at the last moment from my mother’s recipe, I had not made the simple sauce in over 52 years, and it’s not normally on the menu!

For starters we had our usual light selection of Tapas with a nice glass of ‘Kir Royal’ – with the main course we had a fine Rioja that Gillian had brought along with a local White wine from Josie, the desserts went down very well, Strawberry Tarts, Apple Tarts & Mixed Fruit tarts – with the coffee we had some Chocolate Truffles that Josie had donated. In the guest comment book later the ‘Bread sauce’ got a mention from Josie “ Magnificent!”

We had a lovely evening with the folks and they went off down the street feeling no pain as you can see in the picture above.

TUESDAY;

Andy came round at lunchtime as promised and spent over 2 hours on the problem including speaking to ‘Jazztel’ but with no luck – so they arranged for a engineer to call on Wednesday afternoon; I spent the day totally lost without the WWW so I started to read the new book.

WEDNESDAY;

This morning we took Gillian across to the airport in Gibraltar for her flight to Luton,she then catches a bus into London and then another to Torquay! On the way back we called into the English butcher for a change and bought some very large Pork Chops for tonight’s supper, as we entered the shop there was a lovely smell of baking, they had just made some “ Cornish Pasties” so I treated myself to one for lunch!

We then went and had a coffee in the new bar that opened last Friday “ The Place ”- its on the front line of Duquesa marina as you can see in the pictures above, we then went for a walk with the dog around the village; over the last two days its been very hot an sunny but today its still hot but with a sea mist hanging around, the two Palm trees in the new small Plaza have died, as you can see. In the new passage way they now have put some musical notes above the statues – we will find out what the music is!

The engineer came on time and fixed the problem, a new ‘Router’ was installed and re-tuned both PCs so as you can see I’ am back online on the WWW.

I’ am baking the chops and we are having ‘Lyonniase'potatoes, Cabbage with Alcelgas and crushed Carrots, we will the settle down to catch up with all the news, sport and weather reports.

Thoughts for the Days; See above.
