WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON '" PALM SUNDAY "

SUNDAY 13^th/ APRIL 2014.  -  “ PALM SUNDAY ”

‘Early to bed-early to rise’ is the motto for today! We had Poached ‘Campo’ Eggs on toast for breakfast to set us up for the day ahead; the weather forecast over the next few days is fine with for a change no rain on ‘Semana Santa’ week, so far! Down at the ‘Iglesia Santa Ana Church’ this morning is the Holy Mass and the blessing of the Palms then afterwards the first procession of the week when the ‘La Borriquita’ is carried through the streets on the shoulders of the’ Brotherhood’ – ‘Penitent’s’ See the pictures above later.As you can see 'Calle Mar' started deserted and ended up packed as the procession came along;

No roasting today so it gives us a nice relaxing day to take in the sights and sounds of sunny Manilva as the whole village par-takes in the ‘Palm Sunday’ celebrations; we will walk down to the church at noon to see the

‘Tronos  Tableau’ carried out, first held aloft and then on their shoulders, followed by the civic dignitaries and led by the village ‘Brass Band’ with its leader Fernando at the front.

Then this afternoon I will watch on the large PC the ‘Match of the Season’ when Liverpool welcome Manchester City in what could be the title decider! LIVERPOOL have just won 3-2 ! The first half all Liverpool,the second half all City until the 3rd goal ! Liverpool are at the moment 5 points clear at the top of the League !! 

This evening we are having for supper one of our favorite ‘Risotto’s’ – “ Smoked Chicken & Broad Bean ” – the Broad Beans are from our neighbors ‘Campo’- I cook the Risotto when we are ready to eat, a very simple version with finely chopped Onions, a local White wine, using the Spanish ‘ Arroz Redondo – Variedad Exclusiva’ and a good strong Chicken & Vegetable stock – then the main ingredients are added and the seasoning adjusted – Parmesan cheese to our specific tastes! It was delicious,even if I do say so myself !!

Last night we caught two films, the first one was “ The Ides of March” from 2011 which was written for the screen, directed by and starring George Clooney,Ryan Gosling,the late Seymour Hoffman,Paul Giamatti and Marisa Tomei it’s a modern day version using the party selection process and intrigue of the American system as its theme! Do not miss it,you have to pay attention to the words!! Then later it as a rather nice and moving story about the rescue of a family of ‘Artic Killer Wales’ called “Big Miracle”from 2012 with Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski – watch it to find out if it happened!

PS; Fernando the leader of the village Brass Band confirmed that the music sign in the new passage way is the first line of the 'Andalusia Anthem'!

PPS; Josie has sent us her 'Menu' for our lunch tomorrow at their apartment ! We have 'Approved' it !! We are looking forward to lunch with Josie & Den - see you at 12-30! See above,click on it to enlarge !
