WARM AND CRISP IN SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 18th/ FEBRUARY 2014.

We awoke today to yet another glorious day down here on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ – the sky is blue, the sun is out and there is a little breeze; there is still a little bit of the wet stuff about later in the week so fingers crossed for Saturday’s nights ‘ Carnival ‘ parade! After our morning tea and toast I made the ‘Chicken Curry’ for tonight’s supper when Josie is joining us.We had a very enjoyable evening getting to know Josie and are looking forward to her return visit on Sunday - thanks for the wine and chocolate's !

After our showers we went for a nice walk around the village as you can see in the pictures above; they have put up a second tall Palm tree in the new small Plaza, they are still working, slowly on the new passage-way and Brenda & Chispa popped up in front of the fountain!

Later this evening we will catch the highlights of the ‘UEFA Champions League’ game between Manchester City and Barcelona, it’s on TVE 1 live but as we have a guest I will have to wait! Barcelona beat City 0-2 with a second leg to come back in Barcelona ! Messi scored his first ever goal on an English ground !!

“ WINTER OLYMPICS SOCHI 2014 ”  - NEWS UPDATE;

We have been watching mainly in the afternoons over the last 11 days the live coverage on the ‘TDP’ Sports channel’ yesterday it was the ‘Ice Skating Figure Dance’ final when the American couple Meryl Davies and Charlie White won, the first time that the American’s have won this title! The story behind them is fascinating, they have been skating together for 17 years since they were 8/9 and have won everything but the Olympics until now! Their training partners are the Cananadian couple who have the same history together and had won everything including the Olympic Gold in Vancouver 4 year ago”  - they came second this time and the Russian couple were third. Now that’s dedication !!

Last week in Sarajevo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean danced the ‘Bolero’ for the final time, 30 year to the day since they won the Gold in 1984!!

The other day in the ‘Men’s Ice Hockey’ primary round the USA beat Russia after a 2-2 draw in a very exciting penalty shoot-out; the same two players take it in turns until one misses and the other scores!  - Russia’s President Putin who is an Ice Hockey fanatic and it’s rumored that he spent the £50 billion on the games to see them beat the Americans – the look on his face was classic !!

In the ‘Two-Man Bobsleigh’ the Jamaican’s were so large that they could barely get into the Bobsleigh at the start and of course finished last!

The ‘Ladies Curling’ is like watching paint dry and the shouting and screaming by the ladies is very funny!

The ‘Two-Man Luge’ ( French for Sled!) – Not a lot of people know that! It’s hilarious to watch as two grown ‘Burley’ men in tight costumes lay on top of one another feet-first and go down the run!!!

Finally to the ‘ Biathlon’ – cross county skiing and then shooting; it reminded me of the only time I went skiing, it was in Northern Norway on an ‘Artic Training/Survival’ course when I was in the ‘Parachute Regiment’ nearly 50 year ago ! I soon learned on the cross country thin skis that you have to go up hill, which is not natural, as well as down ! And yes I also had to jump into an Ice hole with no clothes on – Happy Days!

Thought for the Day; See above.
