SUNNY AND WARM WITH NO RAIN MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 19th/ OCTOBER 2013.

Well the threatened rain has not appeared and in fact it warm and sunny as normal?! This morning I was up bright and early so a I could get things on the go in the kitchen, after breakfast Brenda carried on and I came up to the office to watch “Saturday Morning Kitchen” on the small PC using my online connection for BBCTV1 in full screen; on the large PC the Skype video alarm came on to say that Jack and Lyn were trying to make contact over in Melbourne.

So we have had a nice long chat and caught up with all the sad news; the funeral is on Friday and they are making it a celebration of Dornoch’s life, he worked as a ‘Ferrier’ and he was with his wife Deb also a great horse rider and went out hunting with the local hunt from their farm, his ambition was to one day be the Master of the Hunt, they have made him a honoree Master and he is going to be buried in the Red Coat and the hounds and huntsmen will be there to give him a good send off blowing their horns! All our love to all the family, he as a well loved man as you can see from all the comments on Facebook and will be sadly missed.

Back in the kitchen I finished off making a fresh batch of ‘Ensaladilla Rusa’- that Brenda had got ready, then made a large pan of my special ‘Minestrone soup’ with about this time 15 different vegetables before I cooked off some ‘Goujons of Panga in Cruz Campo batter’ as Anna was due to call to in to collect Mano’s supper for his night shift. She went off with a pot of the Russian salad, a tub of the Minestrone sprinkled with Parmesan and the fish with Tartar sauce and Lemon Wedges!! Its ‘Sexton’s’ A la carte take out service!

Sadly Mano and Anna are not joing us for their Sunday roast tomorrow as they are going to a family party; so we have asked our friend Gillian to come with her Swedish friend Lilymor who we know, it could be the last supper for Gillian as she is due to go back to her new house in Torquay very soon! We are doing a rather special Roast Loin of Pork with all sorts of goodies – see tomorrows Blog for all the details!

Then it was time to get tonight supper ready ‘Steak au Poivrade’ – the main job is cracking/crushing the whole Black Peppercorns in a tea towel with the rolling pin! The chips are blanched and Brenda has sliced the Green Beans with her special slicer that Jane found for us back in Chester!

At the moment on TDP it’s the qualifying of the ‘Australian Motor GP’ from the ‘Phillip Island Circuit’ which is just down the road along coast from Jack and Lyn, it’s the island right at the tip of the southern most part of Australia in the ‘Bass Strait’s’ I’ am also following the football from England as the early kick-off is the Newcastle v Liverpool match; 2-2 at the moment and the final score! Now for the good news to warm Big Bri up over in Pori,Finland which is now down to minus 3degs and more! Everton 2 - Hull 1 !! Over here Barcelona could only draw at Osasuna 0 -0 bur Real Madrid beat Malaga 2-0.

After supper we will find a film to watch after catching up with all the match report and results here and over in England; last night I was flicking between two films due to the long commercial breaks; ‘ Clear and Present Danger’ with Harrison Ford and ‘The Negotiator’ with Samuel L.Jackson!

Thought for the Day; See above.
