A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA & CASARES ON WEDNESDAY LUNCHTIME.

WEDNESDAY 22nd/ MAY 2019.

I was up early this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot off across to the ‘Estepona Hospital’ for my next appointment with Encarni at the ‘ Physiotherapy Department ‘ for more treatment on my left hand, I found a good spot to park and had my usual tostado & tea in ‘ Tikitapi’ before going across to the Hospital.

As I shot along the coast road the sun had broken through earlier and the sky was clear & blue, there was a light breeze over the calm & sparkling Mediterranean, by lunchtime it was due to reach 25 degs+ - tomorrow is going to be warmer and by Friday it’s due to be very hot, up to 30 degs+ over the weekend it’s going a little cooler as the breeze stiffens, next week is going to be the same, warm & very sunny, going hotter at times, back up to 30 degs+ - with a few patchy clouds, overnight hovering on the 18/19 degs mark, watch this space.

When I returned I had a shave and ‘ wash & brush ’ up, before getting ready to meet ‘Joyce Baby ‘ down at the ‘ Mirador’ at the bottom of the village, she was driving over from ‘ Alhaurin el Grande’ – we bumped into Brian and so he took a picture of the three of us, as you see below!

It was then time to show Joyce around the village as she has not been up to sunny Manilva for a few years, we then went up the winding main road, up to Casares, past all the various ‘ Venta’s’  and parked just below ‘ Restaurante Sarmiento Brasa Andaluza ’ – to give it it’s full name! We had the best table in the house ( Table 25!) sat in the middle of the veranda overlooking the spectacular view of Casares, as you can see below.

We had a very nice chilled bottle of the house ‘ Cava Rosado ‘ as we chose from the ‘ A La Carte Menu ‘ there is also a ‘ Menu Del Dia ‘ ( 15 Euros) during the week, Joyce & Brenda shared the ‘ Tartare of Blue Fin Tuna ‘ and I chose the House ‘ Kid Croquettes ’ – see below.

For our main course Joyce had the ‘Grilled Sea Bass with Garlic Salsa’ – it came on the bone, which Joyce prefers, with a nice selection of Vegetables, Brenda had her favourite ‘Confit of Duck Leg with a Port Glace & Apple ’ – which fell of the bone, and I had ‘Aged Holstein Fillet Steak ‘ – ‘ Rare’ - pink no blood, the fat is ‘ Creamy’ in texture, with the unusual House Fries, see below.

The ‘ Girls’ had a glass of the House ‘ Ribera de Duero’ – served ‘ Spanish’ style ‘ Chilled’ – it came nicer as the sun warmed the glasses! See below the small private dining room, which we are booking for when the ‘ Canadian Clan’ are over at the start of October!

We then dropped back down to the coast and called into ‘Castillo de la Duquesa’ for a late afternoon/early evening ‘ Taster’ as the Mediterranean lapped up the steep shore line, to end a perfect day with Joyce, “ Thanks “  – until the next time!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
