A ' FRESH' WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 18th/ MAY 2019.

We had a nice long lie in this morning after a week of early starts, we were only awoken by the gas-bottle delivery man blowing his horn! After freshening up, as usual, on a Saturday morning, Brenda was on the breakfast rota, so I had her famous ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast ‘ – Scrambled on brown for Brenda, with mugs of strong/hot ‘PG’ Tips Tea, to start the weekend in the right direction!

The sun had broken through earlier and as there is still a stiff ‘ Poinente’ breeze blowing down off the mountains behind the village, the sky was bright blue with a few patchy clouds, it’s ‘Fresh’ in the shade – warm & sunny on the sunny side of the street, by lunchtime it will be 23 degs+ - tomorrow is the same, next week is now looking dry, warm & sunny, with more patchy clouds at times, as the breeze drops it going a little warmer, by Wednesday up to 27 degs+ - when we will be out & about with our dear friend ‘ Joyce Baby’ – the rest of the week and over next weekend is staying the same, hovering in the high 20s – overnight down to 13/14 degs, watch this space.

Down in ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ this afternoon it’s the “ International Day’ from 12-noon to Mid-Night, as over 25 different cultures take part, with Food & Drink stalls, live music, singing & dancing ,as well as a street parade etc.

On the sports front this weekend it’s all happening; the ‘ Giro d’Italia’s Stage 8 goes from Tortoreto Lido to Pesaro over 235 kms, over a hilly route, tomorrow’s stage is a ‘ Time Trial’ along a hilly Adriatic coast road.

This afternoon the ‘Horse Racing’ is from Newbury & Newmarket, on the flat.

Later it’s the “ FA Cup Final “ from Wembley as Manchester City play Watford, ‘ City’ are going for the ‘ Treble’ as they have won the, The 'Charity Shield' & ‘Premiere League’

Over here in ‘ La Liga’ it’s the final games of the season, as Real Madrid welcome Real Betis & Barcelona travel to Eibar tomorrow.

This evening for our supper we are having a large ‘Grilled Rib of Beef’ – on the bone, cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – pink no blood, then left to rest, before taking it off the bone ‘ French’ style and slicing it into fingers, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms & Baby Shallots, accompanied with a classic ‘ Bearnaise ‘ sauce,  served with whole/fine ‘ French’ Green Beans and ‘ Triple’ cooked ‘ Frits’

On Sunday we are having a late ‘ Brunch’ –  starting with local fresh Orange juice, with ‘Campo’ Fried Eggs, Crispy Smoked Bacon, local sliced Chorizo, Button Mushrooms, seared Plum Tomatoes, sautéed Potatoes and not forgetting the ‘ Heinz Baked Beans’ and of course ‘ Fried Bread’!
