A GLORIOUS ' FRESH' WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 3rd/ MAY 2019.

I was up early, again, this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas, as the sun was raising above a sparkling Mediterranean, for our weekly shopping, I called into ‘ ItZabar’ for my toast & tea before ‘ Mercadona opened, I then picked up the local newspapers and a birthday card from the ‘ English Bookshop’ – next I went along to the far end of the promenade to the local market for some fresh flowers & wall plants, finally I stopped at ‘ Super Sol’ for the ‘ English’ essentials, it was then time to come back up through the green vine fields, which are growing very quickly.

Back at the house Brenda had taken ‘ Chico’ out for his first walk of the day, around the bottom of the village, he slept all night on his bed, he also likes to go on the marble floor, he’s settled in very well and has a very good appetite, this afternoon ‘ Scruffy’ is back with us for a few hours, sadly little ‘Winnie’ – the Black Pug, has had to cancel, due to a change in her plans, she will be back with us soon, the other day we had a call from a Spanish friend, Marta, who is the ‘Senior Practise Nurse’ at the local surgery, she is going away on holiday to Mexico, so we are looking after ‘Lolo’ for nearly three weeks, towards the end of the month, she has been with us before in ‘Doggy World Heaven’

It’s another beautiful day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out early and the sky is clearing, there is a light breeze, keeping it ‘ fresh’ & sunny, with a few patchy clouds, by lunchtime it’s will be 21 degs+ - tomorrow 24 degs+ and on Sunday 26 degs! Next week is looking the same, going hotter by next Tuesday, reaching 28 degs+ - overnight down to 15 degs, the breeze is staying light and the sky will be bright blue & clear, the most glorious time of the year, before it goes ‘ Hot’ and the holiday hoards arrive! Watch this space.

At lunchtime we are going along to ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ for a nice cool drink, sat outside, watching the ‘World’ go by and having a light ‘ Tapas’ lunch.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Posh Fish n’ Chips’ – ‘Goujon’s of Hake Fillet’ – coated in a ‘ Cruzcampo Beer Batter’ – then shallow-fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden, accompanied with ‘ Mushy Peas’ and of course my now ‘ Triple-Cooked ‘ Chips, served with lots of Lemon Wedges and a Homemade ‘Tartar’ sauce.

On Saturday, for our ‘ Steak Night’ it’s going to be ‘ Entrecote Pizzaiola ‘ – the classic ‘Italian Trattoria’ dish from the 60s, which I used to serve at the ‘La Busola’ in Bold Street, where I was the Assistant  Restaurant Manager,  Grilled ‘Sirloin’ Steaks coated with a rich Tomato sauce with a ‘ ‘Concasse’ of Tomato, minced  Garlic, & chopped Capers/Anchovy, and lots of Oregano!  - served with classic ‘ Straw Fries ‘!!

For our ‘ Sunday Supper’ Brenda is having her favourite ‘ Confit of Duck Leg ‘ and I’m having a ‘Angus Rib-Eye Steak’ – topped with a ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg!

This evening we will be catching up with all the news & sport, then later channel hopping to find something to watch.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
