A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 13th/ OCTOBER 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning with no ‘ doggy-walking’ duties, for the first time in a long time! After freshening up Brenda was on the breakfast rota so I had her famous ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast ‘ while she had an ‘ Campo Boiled Egg with Toast Fingers’ – with mugs of steaming, strong tea to get us on the way.

I have just checked on the Flight Arrivals at Barcelona Airport, the folks flight, from Toronto, is ‘En Route’ and due to arrive at 12-25 pm, we are going down to Sabinillas this afternoon to meet the agent outside the apartment to collect the keys and drop-off some essentials for when Sandra & Bill arrive, we are meeting them, like last time, at the ‘ Repsol Garage’ and will show them to the apartment, one minute away.

PS; They have landed !!  Half an hour late !!

They are staying at the ‘ Hotel Porta Fira ‘ for the night, and taking in some of the main sights in Barcelona, before catching a flight tomorrow morning into Malaga, where they are picking up their hire car to travel down to sunny Manilva, to arrive mid-afternoon. We are very excited and can’t wait to see the Sandra & Bill again. Watch this space.

This morning has started clear & sunny, with a very light breeze, the clouds are clearing and the sun has broken through, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 26 degs+  - overnight down to 16/17 degs, tomorrow is looking a little cooler, as the wind increases, with, sadly, the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ in the air, next week is now looking dry & sunny, with patchy clouds at times as well as the occasional shower, hovering in the mid 20s, the following week is now looking the same, about normal for the time of the year, watch this space.

PS;  " HURRICANE LESLIE " is now going to possibly hit us tomorrow !!  ' Honestly !!

ON ' YELLOW ' ALERT !!

A quiet sports weekend, as there is no  ‘ La Liga & Premier League Football’ as it’s International Football, around Europe, in the ‘ Nations League’ Next weekend it’s the ‘ United States Grand Prix’ – meanwhile back in the ‘UK’ the Horse Racing Jump Season has started.

For our supper this evening we are having the old classic ‘ Steak Diane ‘ – my version of the classic recipe – I’m using trimmed ( French Style ) Sirloin Steaks, flattened and smeared with English & Dijon Mustard, them seared in a hot pan, then taken out and left to rest, I then make the sauce in the pan with sliced Mushrooms & Banana Shallots, with a little crushed Garlic, with a dash of ‘Lea & Perrins’ and ‘Tabasco’ -  lightly sautéed, with a large spoonful of Dijon Mustard, before de-glazing with a glass of Brenda’s ‘Red Wine’ – then reducing the sauce, to taste, after adding a little Beef Stock and adjusting the seasoning, it’s flamed with a local Cooking Brandy, before adding the double Cream & Chopped Parsley, the seared steaks are then put back in the sauce to finish cooking, served with Whole ‘ French’ Green Beans and twice-cooked ‘ Frits’

After supper we will be channel hopping to find something to watch.

NB; Over the next week the ‘Blog’ will be posted from time to time, when I have the time, with updates, and some pictures as the week goes on.
