A GREY & OVERCAST ' STORMY' START TO THE DAY IN SUNNY MANILVA.

TUESDAY 9th /OCTOBER 2018.

I was up early this morning to see little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – ‘Chico’ spent the night under our bed, he then waits while we freshen ourselves up, to go out for his first walk of the day, around the bottom of the village, when we returned we had our usual light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea.

Overnight the temperatures have dropped, this morning it’s grey & overcast with a storm forecast later, we have taken in the main wall plants, as a precaution, as when it rains in Spain, at this time of the year, it “ RAINS”! It’s due to reach 22 degs+ by lunchtime, when the storm is due to hit us,  tomorrow will be dry, cloudy and then sunny, more of the ‘wet-stuff’ on Thursday, over the weekend is now looking dry, with patchy clouds, hovering in the mid 20s, overnight down to 17 degs, next week is now looking dry & sunny, at times, with patchy clouds, back in the mid 20s, but going cooler by the following weekend, the folks might need a jumper, but they are made of ‘sterner stuff’ over in Canada!!

See below the storm clouds approaching over the ‘Mediterranean’ this morning !

This week I will be out on my travels, down to Sabinillas, on Thursday,  as it’s a ‘National Bank Holiday’ on Friday – “ Dia De Hispanidad “ – the day that Christopher Columbus first set foot in the Americas in 1492.

For our supper this evening we are having the ‘Roast Topside of Beef ‘ again, as the ‘ Head Chef’- with the help of his ‘French Sabatier Carving Knife’ has managed to carve another meal from the joint, this time we are having it with a nice Mixed Salad and a few, twice-cooked ‘ Frits’!

On the menu tomorrow we are having more Beef, this time ‘ Braised Entrecote Slices’ in a rich Mushroom, Onion & Shallot Red Wine Salsa, with fresh, local Vegetables and our favourite ‘ Rissolees’ Potatoes, par-boiled, then cubed and tossed in a Parsley & Herb Butter, until crisp & brown all over.

Thursday is still TBC, possibly a ‘ Night-Off’ for the ‘ Head Chef & Staff’ – depending on the weather, on Friday it will a ‘ Fish Supper’ and on Saturday ‘ Steak Night ‘ – then on Sunday, as Sandra & Bill arrive, we are welcoming them to the house, in the early evening, for a nice glass, or two, of a fine, chilled ‘Rose Cava’ – before a surprise pre-ordered supper up at ‘ Bar Rojas’ !  Watch this space.

At lunchtime we had a knock on the door, it was two Producers/ Researchers' - Lydia & Pilli, from " A Place in the Sun " - who had been recommended by local English neighbours,- who have a house at the bottom of our street, around the corner, up for sale, they are filming in the next couple of weeks and want me to appear on the programme, as the ' local ' with knowledge of the village and the area! I have signed on the dotted-line, a ' Star' is born, watch this space.

We are at the moment back into our routine of watching various ‘Quiz Shows’ – “ Countdown, Topping Point, The Chase, Pointless & Eggheads, before later ‘ University Challenge” -  last night I got five answers correct!

PS; We also watch '" A Place in the Sun" - yesterday it was in ' Mojacar' - in the area around where Tim & Thea are staying for six months, it's a small World!

After supper we caught the next episode ( 5)  of “ Black Earth Rising’ – as the nasty lawyer is ‘gassed’ in his car, the plot thickened, deeper into the abyss, as all the various political parties fight for the job of being the next ‘President of Rwanda’- the two main contenders being sisters, one already in the job!  The two main lawyers are at loggerheads, after Kate ( Michaela Coel ) meets the man who was responsible for the genocide?!  Watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
