A VERY CRISP & DRY SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY:

TUESDAY 23rd/WEDNESDAY 24th / FEBRUARY 2016.

NEWSFLASH; BRENDA AT THE HOSPITAL AGAIN !

Late on Monday evening we had another problem, Brenda could not put her one good foot, the left, down, she was in extreme pain, earlier ‘Daniela’ had dropped off a Wheel Chair, on hire, from the Charity Shop in Sabinillas where she is the Secretary of the ‘St.George’s Charity’ It was impossible to get her up from the bed and into the chair, she was screaming so I had to call an ambulance from the Hospital over past Marbella.

It arrived at 12-20 am with only one ‘Medic’- I had told them that she was upstairs and could not move, so he had to call the ‘Policia Local’ and two came along and helped carry Brenda out down the stairs to the ambulance waiting outside in the street! We arrived at the ‘Costa Del Sol’ Hospital at 1-30 am and they took Brenda way into the Infirmary – ‘7 HOUR’  later she had still not been seen by a Doctor!

They would not let any family members into the Infirmary so the first I saw her was at 8-30 am when the ‘Trauma Consultant’ came along, he acted very quickly, apologized and put Brenda in a private room, she was then X-Rayed immediately and he confirmed that it was not broken it was a bad strain with some muscle damage, no plaster or bandages needed and she was put on Saline & Pain Drips! So by 9-30 am she looked a lot better and the ambulance was called for to bring us back home to sunny Manilva – this is where the problems started all over again, they sent one ‘Medic’ not two, as requested by the ‘Risk Assessment’ – twice this happened and our Consultant was very upset and apologized again for the ‘Brakedown’ in the system! He sent along lunch for us from the Hospital Kitchens, Cream Soup & Bread, Seared Pork Escalope with small/diced/fried Potatoes, with Yoghurt & Water – 7/10 !!

Once again at 4-40 pm another ambulance arrived still with only one ‘Medic’ not the two as promised, by then I was rather exasperated and said that we had enough and we were going home no matter what after ‘7 HOURS’ waiting!! We arrived home by 6.30 pm and I helped carry her with the ‘Medic’ on the wheeled stretcher into our lounge, he then lifted her in the waiting wheel chair – RESULT!! I then made us a strong cup of English Tea!

I then made up a bed, under the directions of Brenda, on the large settee and she then got under the covers and settled down, we then did a practise bathroom run to the toilet, with a little difficulty, practise makes perfect! Lumy & her Sister from Barcelona, who has just retired ( Teacher ) called in to see her and stayed for a nice chat, Lumy helped me make up the bed in our bedroom with fresh sheets, which I then collapsed into later, we then watched the third episode of “ Happy Valley “ after having a light supper of a ‘Minute Steak’. See below Brenda settled into the wheel chair!!

This morning after breakfast I shot out along to the ‘Tebac’ to top up both of our ‘Pay as You Go’ Mobile Phones and on the way back my tablets from the Chemists, I spotted some fresh ‘Cream Cakes’ in ‘Bar Ocana’ also, everywhere I go, of course, the local stop me to ask how is Brenda so they get the full up to date tale and have started calling in to see her again! We are having soup for lunch and then this evening its going to be warm “ Melton Mowbray “ Pork Pies ( Iceland ! )

Tim has just called on the Skype video from Old Colwyn in North Wales and we have spoken to the two sisters Norah & Jenny, over in England on the landline. Mano & Anna called in later in the afternoon for a catch up on our ' Adventure'

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
