A VERY CRISP AND AT THE MOMENT DRY SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 18th/ FEBRUARY 2016.

“ NEWSFLASH – BRENDA IN PLASTER ! “

The sad news is that she’s in plaster as she had broken her foot and torn some ligaments when she slipped in the street, in the wet, on Sunday! We had an eventful day yesterday, at lunchtime I was grabbing a quick shower and Brenda came hopping along to the bathroom and as she reached the door she shouted that she was feeling dizzy and not well, as I jumped out of the shower she fell into my wet arms and we both collapsed to the floor, Brenda was gray as a ghost/ sweating & limp, I had to throw some towels around us and managed to get a cushion to put her head on, she came round very slowly and the colour in her cheeks also came back slowly, I then managed to get dressed and get to the phone and I rang Mano to ask him to call for the ambulance as it would be quicker them me!

Mano shot up to the house and by then I had Brenda sat on a chair in the bathroom, the local ambulance arrived with a Doctor & two Medics and they then checked Brenda out, checked her blood pressure and heart etc and gave her the all clear after a little while, I in the meantime rang Daniela in work and she arranged for a friends son to come and collect ‘Reina’ They/we decided that I would take Brenda to the ‘Costa Del Sol’ Hospital past Marbella with all the documents, they carried Brenda down and put in her in the car and we shot off!

When we arrived at the ‘Emergency Department’ they rushed Brenda in a wheel chair to the main waiting room, then within 15 minutes she was taken to see the ‘Triage Doctor’ and X-Rayed! You then wait to be seen by a doctor, the waiting room was very busy, hot, noisy etc and you have to listen out for your name to be called out on the sound system telling you which cubicle to go too, ‘SEVEN HOURS’ later we were finally called in!! The Lady Consultant that had been brought down especially to see Brenda was very polite and said that she was very soory that we had to wait so long, the system had broken down and Brenda had been missed for her to see her, it was the 11-30 pm and after checking Brenda and the X-Ray out she confirmed that she had badly broken her foot and has some torn ligaments! She was the taken straight away to be Plastered by a very nice nursing sister, after checking there was piece of luck, she did not need to have daily anti thrombosis injections, administerd by me, as one of the tablets that she takes for her heart already doe’s the job! Result!

We then set off home to arrive back at the house just after 1.00 am! As I was struggling to get Brenda out of the car outside our front door two of our local neighbours where coming down the street and helped me to get her onto a chair, the problem being that they do not issue crutches at the hospital any more due to cuts! One of the gentleman, Antonio, said the he had a pair at home and he shot off and brought them back, ho very kind and thank you. We then slowly managed to get her up to bed up our very steep stairs and settled into bed with her foot ‘up’ in plaster! That’s where she will be for the next few days, at least, as we settle into a routine of nursing her, feeding her, making her relax and take things easy etc.

So this morning ‘Reina’ was dropped off as normal and is in her duvet, I sent an E-Mail into Andrew at ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2’ and he played ‘ Dancing in the Street’ by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, that I had requested, to cheer her up?! See below the studio down in Castillo de la Duquesa where Andrew broadcasts from!

I then after sorting out her breakfast request of Cheese on Toast with Tea, we had nothing to eat yesterday but our breakfast in the morning! It was the time to start on the household chores, I took the rubbish up to Calle Mar, and on the way back called into our local shop in our street for some regular essentials, it was full of all our local neighbours from the ‘Barios’ so they were all very sorry to hear about Brenda, as the news spread we had them calling at the front door coming to see her, Anna, from next door, Rosaria from opposite and Isobel( Chispa!) from down the bottom, we had to laugh as its like when somebody dies here, they all call in to see the body!!

I was then given my jobs for this morning, I changed the water in the flower display, ‘puffed’ up the cushions on the settee, mopped the floor and then prepared this evenings vegetables, Baby Carrot Batons, Cabbage with Alselgas and some boiled diced Potatoes to into the Beef & Mushroom Stew to make it ‘Scouse’ for tonight supper!!

Watch this space for all the news updates over the next few days/weeks!

PS; Just a quick thought for our very dear fried Tim over in Colwyn Bay as its his mothers funeral & cremation today, our deepest symphony to him and all the family at this very sad time. See below a picture of Colwyn Bay taken from Bryn Euryn at dusk!
