A GREY & OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 10th/ JANUARY 2016.

We finally had a little lie in this morning after a busy week, its grey and overcast with a hint of a breeze, some of the wet stuff is threatening for tomorrow, the week ahead is looking settled at the moment. For our breakfast we treated ourselves to ‘Campo’ Fried Eggs with crispy un-smoked ‘English Back Bacon’ – lots of buttered toast and mugs of steaming tea! See the picture below;

The 'Pirate' is back!

I then made the ‘Charcutiere’ sauce for this evenings supper, finely sliced Onions & Gherkins sweated off in a slug of Red Wine, a dash of Lea & Perrins and Tabasco, then a good slug of Malt Vinegar and a English & Dijon Mustard paste before adding a rich Beef & Vegetable stock, I then adjust the seasoning, consistency and colour ( Gravy Browning!) – thanks Josie! We are having ‘Baked Pork Loin Steaks’ with Roasted Green Peppers with Green Beans, Crushed Carrots, Cauliflower Florets Mornay and my version of ‘Patatas Bravas’ – boiled diced/cubed Potatoes finished in a rich piquant Tomato salsa! See below;

Next week here in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ – ‘Reina’ is back with us on Tuesday & Thursday for the day, we are going across to Estepona  on Wednesday morning to collect our carriage clock from the jewellers, I will call into my Barber, Manual, for a trim & cut, then we will have a little walk around the shops as its ‘Rebajas’- Sales Time!  In the evening we have our appointments with the Chiropodist down at the surgery, then on Friday morning we will pop down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping and to get our passport photos taken, over the weekend we will be taking things easy and relaxing, doing nothing – because we can!

In the football yesterday over in England in the ‘FA Cup’ Everton won 2-0 Manchester City won 0-3 and over here in ‘La Liga’ Barcelona won 4-0 with a Messi hat trick and Real Madrid won 5-0 with a Bale hat trick!! I also watched the Horse Racing in the afternoon on Channel 4 which was from Kempton Park & Chepstow where the ‘Welsh Grand National’ took place in the heavy rain after being abandoned two week ago!

Last night after supper we watched a good film  “ Jack Reacher ”from 2012 – an adaptation of the ‘Lee Childs’ novel with Tom Cruise in the title role with the very watchable Rosamund Pike as a lawyer and David Olelowo, Werner Herzog and right at the end a ‘cameo’ part from Robert Duvall – Tom Cruise is ‘Reacher’ but the only problem he’s not as tall as the character in the book?!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
