OVERCAST/CLOSE IN SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE STAT OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 9th/ MAY 2014.

First thing this morning Scruffy was picked up by his mum & dad, I took him out earlier for his walk and then Brenda gave him his breakfast, he’s back next week, we are waiting to hear when; we then shot off to Sabinillas for the shopping, I called into our bank first then stopped at the English bookshop which is now open earlier for the papers, Brenda posted a birthday card ( Male – Young Man !) and I selected two more ‘Lee Child’s’ to read.

It was then our main shop in ‘Mercadona’ before calling into ‘Super Sol’ for some English essentials; back in the village we dropped down to the local market for some fresh flowers and local Carrots, we then un-packed back at the house before going out for our walk with dog and calling into the butcher’s, I picked up two slices of ‘Steak a la Plancha’ for Saturday night, some Calves Liver for another day and arranged to collect the marinated/boned ‘Leg & shoulder of Lamb’ tomorrow morning for our ‘Sunday Roast lunch’ with Claus & Doreen.

The menu for Sunday has been agreed with the assistant/commis chef! To start we are going to have a small ‘Fish Hors’deuvre’ made with Lobster/Crab/ Langoustines/Gambas and Salmon, with the main course we are having Whole Green Bean parcels wrapped in Smoked Bacon, crushed Carrots & Baby Turnips, Garden Peas, a large dish of my famous ‘ Boulangere’ potatoes and turned small Roast Potatoes as a garnish – the Lamb will be roasted/ rested to order on a bed of cut,Leeks,Celery,Shallots which will also be a garnish – lots of Mint Sauce!!

The dessert is homemade individual ‘Muscat Trifle’ made with the local wine, Yoghurt Madrilènes, Strawberry Jam & Jelly, Peach’s, proper Custard and decorated with whipped Cream and ‘Cadbury’s Flake!’  To drink we are having ‘Rose Cava’ and a fine Campo Viejo Rioja’

This evening supper is once again ‘Fillet of Hake Meauniere’ with Saffron New Potatoes and Garden Peas, before supper we are popping down to the ‘Wine Centre Museum’ as we have been given an invite to a 'Modern Art' exhibition by our friend Antonia ( Campo Eggs!) of one of our neighbors! We are going to show our faces then retire gracefully!

As you see in the pictures above it was rather good; the artist is originally from Slovenia/Yugoslavia and graduated from the 'University of Liubliana'before settling here,"Claudia Andromedas" - she has exhibited in her home country,Germany and all over Spain! Oh and yes,some very nice 'Canape's' !!

Later we will find a film to watch from the channels that we have left.

PS; The picture above shows the pathway along the front down in Old Colwyn where Tim walks his dog 'Jasper' - the boat is docking at the 'Llandulas Stone Quarry'
