HOT AND SUNNY MANIVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 23rd/ MAY 2014.

We were up a bit sharpish this morning and after breakfast we went out on our travels; it’s now an officially hot day in sunny Manilva with just a little breeze to make it very pleascent, with more to come over the weekend. Our first port of call was down to the local market for some fresh flowers then we shot down to Sabinillas, topped up the car with petrol and then topped up the wallet at the bank! This month the Euro is at it’s highest in over a year so the pensions coming in are looking slightly better due to the rate of exchange and the government increase! We picked up the papers and then hit both supermarkets to top up the larder for the week ahead!

This evenings supper is a warm ‘Fish Hors’deuvres’ platter made with what I’ve found around; a small Fillet of Poached Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce, a small Fillet of Hake’ A La Meuniere’ – large Langoustines ‘A La Plancha con Sal’ and finally deep-fried ‘Crab’s Legs in Breadcrumbs’ with Tartar Sauce – Garden Peas and Saffron New Potatoes to accompany the banquet! See the picture above - Andres down in 'Bodegon Andaluz' has just offered me a job in his kitchen - he can't afford me !!

We have just been for a short walk withe dog around the village - see the picture of the Town clock with a very Blue sky overhead!

Now for a nice surprise; we have been asked out for a ‘Farewell/Thank you’ dinner tomorrow night by Gillian, we are going to her nephew’s, who lives just down the coast, partners ‘Thai restaurant’ in the village of ‘Guadiaro’ next to the Sotogrande Polo Ground! We are looking forward to having the night out for a change, especially on a Saturday.

Then on Sunday I have planned a ‘Final Supper’ for Gillian with her favorite ‘Roast Chicken’ with all the trimmings!! Also on Sunday Scruffy is coming around early in the morning for the day; this weekend is not a Bank Holiday here in Spain.

Later tonight after supper we will settle down to find a film to watch after catching the news, sport and weather updates.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
