A VERY CRISP BUT DRY SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 17th/ DECEMBER 2016.

We had a nice long lie in this morning, in fact we overslept, the village was very quiet, no church bells or deliveries etc, we had our normal breakfast just before ‘ Scruffy’ was dropped off for a few hours as Rose goes across to the hospital to see Adrian, he’s still in ‘ ICU’ & very ill, but improving by the day, they are working on his fluid content on the lungs etc. Good news this afternoon, they are moving Adrian up to the Heart/Cardio department on Monday, taking him off the ventilator due to his overnight improvement,

This afternoon ' Reina' is coming back for a sleep over as Lee & Daniela are going to their Xmas Staff Party in Gibraltar.

I’ve just come off the phone after speaking to Michelle in the UK, it’s a week today ‘ Xmas Eve ‘- that she, Matt and Hollie & Charlie, are due to arrive at Gibraltar Airport on the flight from Manchester at 18-45, hopefully the baggage handlers strike will not affect them?!

I’m collecting them and then going along to their apartment complex just outside Sabinillas on the coast road, they are joining us on Christmas Day ( Roast Turkey ) & then on Boxing Day ( Roast Rib of Beef ) - I’ve arranged for a hire car to be dropped off at the complex, they are here for two weeks, so they will be around for the ‘ Three Kings ‘ celebrations on the 6th January 2017! We can’t wait to see them and meet the kids for the first time!!

Overnight it was a little colder, dropping to below 10 degs for the first time, today it’s started dry & very crisp, it’s clear and the sun is due to break through by lunchtime, like yesterday, it goes warmer in the afternoon, reaching the heady heights of 18 degs! Tomorrow it’s more of the same, we will then find out on Monday’s main weather forecast on ‘TVE’ what the Xmas week has in store for us, fingers crossed!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, garnished with seared Asparagus Spear & Button Mushrooms and ‘ French-Fried Onion Rings ( Milk & Flour ) – whole Green Beans and of course some twice-cooked “ Pont Neuf “ – ‘ Door Step Chips’ with ‘Bearnaise’ sauce on the side.

Tomorrow we are having ‘ Braised Lamb Shanks’ in a Minted & Rosemary Gravy, with Baby Brussels Sprouts & Crushed Carrots & Turnips, lots of Mint Sauce on the side!

On the sports front this weekend; over in the ‘ Premiere League ‘ Manchester City welcome Arsenal on Sunday and then on Monday it’s the ‘ Derby’ match as Everton welcome Liverpool; over here in ‘ La Liga’ it’s another ‘ Derby’ game as Barcelona welcome their neighbours Espanyol ( Mano’s team!)  Real Madrid are away in Japan and play on Sunday in the ‘ Fifa Club World Cup’ Final in Yokohama against ‘ Kashima Antlers’ ?!  ‘

This afternoon we will be watching the ‘Jump Racing’ from Ascot & Haydock Park on Channel 4. Well we tried to see the racing but at both of them there was thick fog !!

This evening before supper it’s the Final of ‘ Strictly Come Dancing’ – later we will channel hop and find a film to watch.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
