AN OVERCAST AND CLOUDY SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 19th / MARCH 2016.

Just a little lie in this morning as I had put the gas bottle out last night, the gas bottle delivery man calls and changes it as he passing down our street; we had a nice cooked breakfast for our Saturday treat, Brenda requested ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ and I had ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs & Crispy Smoked Bacon’ – all with mugs of steaming tea, it was then time to freshen up before sorting our day out, Brenda bathed her feet and I’m showering later, she is starting to get around a little better on her own, its going to take more time than we thought for her to get back to normal, watch this space.

See the a picture below of the new roundabout by ‘Lidl’ at the entrance to Sabinillas! Its the first thing that the new Council have done in six months?!

Its still grey & overcast this morning, during the night we had some rain, by lunchtime it will brighten up, like yesterday, in the afternoon Mano & Anna called in for a good catch up, at the moment its staying dry tomorrow ‘ Palm Sunday’ before some more of the wet stuff hits us at the start of the week, by Thursday we will be back to normal for the rest of the ‘ Semana Santa’ week leading up to the climax on ‘Easter Sunday’

Tomorrow, at lunchtime, is the start of the weeks celebrations with the Mass and then parade of the ‘ La Borriquita’ from the ‘ Santa Ana Church’ around the village, led by the ‘Manilva Brass Band’ and Civic Dignity’s – this is when all the village dresses up in their finest and follow the ‘Tronos – Tableu ‘ as its carried by the ‘Penitentes’ through the narrow streets covered in Palm Leaves. My ‘ Brotherhood’s’ – ‘Jesus Nazareno’   procession is late on Thursday night as it comes along Calle Mar after midnight on ‘ Good Friday’! There are other procession, some silent, before the climax on Easter Sunday lunchtime when two brotherhoods meet ‘ Santisimo Cristo Rescucitado Y La Stma. Virgen Del Rosario A.M-D.G. Watch this space for the pictures.

Its a very big sports weekend, in the football over in the ‘Premiere League’ Everton welcome Arsenal and then on Sunday Liverpool travel all the way down to Southampton while its the ‘ Derby Game’ in Manchester between ‘ City & Utd.’ Over here in ‘ La Liga’ on Sunday Real Madrid welcome Sevilla and Barcelona travel to Villa Real; its the final games in the ‘ Six Nations Rugby Union’ as England travel to Paris to play France – when they win it will give them the ‘Grand Slam’ ( 5 wins!) The Horse Racing this afternoon is from Kempton Park & Uttoxeter where its the ‘ Midlands Grand National’ – Later over in Melbourne its the first Grand Prix ‘ Australia’ with Hamilton on pole!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Fillet Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ & garnished with sautéed Baby Mushrooms, on the side whole Green Beans and at the request of Brenda, some of my now famous ‘ Pommes Pont Neuf’ – ‘ Door Step Chips’ with lots of the classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce on the side!  See Brenda's tray below;
